I too am an ex-smoker, gave it up in 1990 when I left BT and I find cigarette smoke irritating and the smell of a used ashtray far worse. Sadly most smokers don't realise the odour that hangs around them, as I didn't, but nowadays I can detect a smoker near me from 5 yards away!! :(

I have had my Autumn booster. I have never smoked, and I can often tell when somebody is smoking nearby. It doesn't bother me too much (I play for a pub pool team, so I got used to it), but some vapes are positively sickening!

Worst of all are those openly puffing those funny 'herbal' fags
I'm, erm, told the cheap stuff stinks badly, erm. I have an acquaintance who smokes it in a vaporiser and compared to the smell of a herbal roll-up, you can barely smell it. I actually find it the best thing to stop my "Painful legs and moving toes syndrome" but it's not conducive to driving and working too well..

PLMT really exists! My neurologist diagnosed it back in January. I take monster doses of pregablin - 600mg per day, a strong nerve-acting anticonvulsant they give to epileptics. Wipes me out, makes me drowsy for a couple of hours so as I need to take it twice a day, I've got to time it right. A couple of good puffs on my friend's machine with some decent weed in it has a *much* better effect.

The smell of a used ashtray is utterly, utterly revolting!

Most vapes are foul. On the motorbike in traffic, I often get a whiff of a cloud of smoke coming out of a car I'm overtaking or following.

I have a torn calf, by f@!k it's sore.. crutches again.

Will hobble to the village for my flu jab later, or use the motorbike. Work pay for mine as I'm not yet old enough to get it for free.

Ohh Mike, I feel your pain  My hurty arms and finger pale into total insignificance compared to that...

May you heal as rapidly as is possible and be up and running again very soon :)

One good thing is that apart from the sore arms, the 'flu vaccine has brought out no adverse reactions in me and nor has the tetanus jab so you should be OK...

I'd ride to to the surgery  far more fun than hobbling :-D

I've just received two emails from the NHS...

One to remind me I have a Covid booster appointment on Thursday...

Hot on its heels was an invitation to apply for my Covid booster....

Good to see all their systems talk to each other...

I made it very clear to my GP surgery that I don't do innoculations but I still get regular invites for flu, pneumonia and Covid jabs, often followed by reminder texts when I don't respond!! Can't be that hard to remove a name from those lists surely? :)

I wanted the Covid, pneumonia and 'flu but the booking websites are a mess, can't book at my doctors.
My daughter used to work in the NHS library and information department and says the computer systems are mainly Lego and are currently overwhelmed.

Never have any reaction to inoculations, hardly feel them at all.

Running? Sod that, the only way I'd run is if I was being chased by a lion or tiger, and even then I might just stand my ground and take my chances..

The modern needles are so fine I never feel them, a bit different to the ones we had, six of them, when we were posted to Egypt in the 1950s, the damned things were like knitting pins. :)

But running is so good for you... I woke up feeling a but urrgh this morning and even more so after my early trip to Tesco for my weekly shop...

I then dragged myself out for a reasonably paced 4.5 mile run and felt hugely better afterward... Even better after a 31 mile bike ride...

A good run lowers my blood pressure by a significant amount when comparing before and after readings... Also a good half marathon looses a good Kg of weight...

Running (and cycling) is brilliant for both your mental and physical health... Trust me, I know from years of practice ;)
