The only thing i can think is that it went through deep water and as being low down by unplugging them it could be a way to test again when they are plugged back in

My mistake, 0.10 yesterday. 100 milliamps.

But meters fuse is blown, so no more amp readings.

What I should have said was that the instrument lights go out in about a minute.

100mA is a problem, enough to cause battery drain.

Hi all.

I used a new MM today, battery draw is:
0.03 (10A) or 00.3 (200m).

So, only 30 Millivolt draw. Am surprised, yesterday I corrected myself because it's a Citroen, had to be 100mv!

Fuse volt drop I do anyways, 00.1 for six of them the others all 00.0.

And this, with a fully charged battery I drove around my driveway, engine off then on, third restart did'nt happen, battery volts at 12.2.

This fault began after I drive thru deep puddles so possibly a mechanical/earth fault, rather than flaky ecu systems.

That draw is well within spec.
I’d get the battery properly tested before going any further.
It could be total coincidence, a car battery can fail at any time & often without any warning whatsoever.

Am thinking this also.

Will have the batt load tested, as at full charge the engine stutters on start up.

Then more fault finding if needed.

The C series Citroens are very electronic (lots of ECUs and so on), so a failing battery can throw up all sorts of weird problems that can make fault finding very 'interesting'. It should be that if a C Citroen starts doing strange electrical things getting the battery properly tested should be the first port of call.

So, it was a battery fault.

Load test of 8.7 volts!

And on last recharge and refit to car, the volts dropped to 12.4, just with systems booting up.

It's a large battery too, 680a x 74ah. Bosch S4.
Previous owner was taking no chances for this 2.0L car.

I will post a Q about my alternator and that will be fault finding complete.

How old is the battery? Even good ones (and Bosch is normally a good name) have a finite lifespan, and if it is very old that could explain the problems.

I fitted a Bosch AGM S6 to my C5 X7. It needed it, but leaving it standing for a week was hopeless. I still had to frequently top it up over the pandemic, so in the end, I put the shunt fuse into Park Mode - to turn off some of the systems to prevent severe battery drain. Never had an issue after that - just moved the fuse back to customer mode when I started using it more regularly.

Marc, that's just plain dreadful.
Surely-to-goodness it ought to be possible to leave a car for a week without coming back to find it immobile!
Not a car to drive to an airport with, then.
What were Citroen thinking??? #-o

I think original battery is 720cca (EN) so I reckon the battery you had in it was too small anyway.
As for AGM & EFB batteries, i dont rate them at all, they dont have in general anywhere near the same lifespan as a regular flooded battery. I would only put one in a car if it needed it & would never put one in as an ‘upgrade’.

Yes, that's what I figured too! I'm not overly impressed with Bosch batteries (this being the second one), so will likely be going YUASA next.

Yuasa YBX3000 seem good for 6 years+ here.
Both BX and XM on YBX3000 092-size, €99 here. RAV4 diesel had one too.
