If you've got a small bit of rubber pipe just replace the elbow as long as you can reposition the black plastic pipe a little so the 'new' piece doesn't kink.

Pete is right: an elbow isn't essential - a loop of rubber pipe will suffice, if a snug fit (or clipped). A low pressure return.

Thankyou both, i will be trying to sort this out this week, probably Tuesday as i have a week off and can run it over to my trusted garage where i can get it up on the lift to have proper access.
*** Edit If i get the correct internal diameter pipe would it make sense to make it longer than needed and make it more like a coiled spring so there is no risk of pinching if i can work out a way to hold the coil in place ? ***
