wheeler wrote: 02 Jun 2021, 17:22 Whats your VIN & i will try having a look at some wiring diagrams?
Do you have access to Diagbox/Lexia or other diagnostics & have you tried talking to the car with it?
Sorry only seeing your reply now ,
Vin is
VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]
It’s actually a 1.4hdi with a Bosch ecu
I have a launch diagnostic tool but it won’t read anything because the car is dead like the ignition isn’t on
I’ve had 4 different mechanic s look at this and everyone is baffled
Obviously we are all missing something, but there is only so many times I can check fuses and earth s lol
Was told to try a different battery fuse tray that sits on top of the battery, did that but just the same
Any help would be greatly appreciated before I push this car out of my garage and set fire to it

OK I've had a look at a couple of diagrams.
Can you confirm that on the big 2 way grey connector on the BSI (inside the car) both wires have battery voltage all the time?
Please also confirm that the big main cables on both the starter motor & alternator have battery voltage?
On the 2 pin black connector on the batter charge status unit do you have battery voltage at pin 2?
Fuse 11 on the BSI (inside the car) can you confirm that (both sides of) Fuse 11 is live all the time?

Do these checks first & report back.

It will be a large 2 pin connector plugged into the BSI & will have 2 very thick wires coming from it.
This may not be your exact BSI but will look something like this.

I assume they are waiting for you to complete the things Wheeler asked you to check.

I’ll take another look later on to see if there is anything else to check. This is a strange one, at the moment im leaning towards the BSM (under bonnet fusebox)

You have not confirmed this?

Can you check there is an ignition live feed a pin 5 of the 10 way black connector on the BSI.
Check there is an ignition live at Pin 1 of the 2 way black on the under bonnet fuse box.

Id already pmd him ,
yes I’ve power at all these points ,
Had to take the car to another mechanic that’s more into his electric s than me ,
He got the car to actually turn on using a different ecu and got the windows up at least , but still won’t run ,he s thinking the bsi is blown ,
He’s very busy and hopes to get another look at it before the weekend

Unfortunately the other followers of this thread who might be able to help you wouldn't know that.

It would have been better to post in this thread what you had done.

Thought I’d post the problem if anyone else comes across this ,
To cut a very long story short , the problem was basically everything electrical had been fried , (although there wasn’t as much as one melted fuse in the car)
Needed a new ecu , bsi , and even the abs pump and module,
I’d advise anyone that has to do anything to one one these cars to disconnect everything, especially the ecu , I’d the battery completely removed and look at the damage it did , maybe it was only a coincidence I’m not sure

 In theory if the battery was removed it should have been safe to weld.
Only thing i can think of, is it possible that when the battery was removed that the positive terminal was resting on the chassis when you were welding?
