I want my XM back wrote: 09 Feb 2023, 19:11 In summary, if you have never renewed these two small filters then do it ASAP. Again apologies for time taken to report back.

Chris
A long drawn out saga, loads of comprehensive technical information and then a simple straight forward tip. Thanks to all in this discussion, I will read the lot again later (quick skim read only this far - too tired to inwardly digest it all now!) but more importantly will dig into these little filters and replace the foam this weekend.

(C5, 2.2 HDi 170, but in manual gearbox form. If there are any significant differences with mine will report back)

Thanks,

Matt

Thanks Chris for the feedback.
Mine is now at about 185,000 miles and I’ve never looked at those filters.
Unfortunately I now have terminal cancer and have just come out of hospital after 12 days. I’ll try and check out those filters, although it may well be that the C8 is going to out survive me 😉 Determined to fight this bloody illness just as long and hard as I can 🤞
Cheers

Another thanks from me. Been having this intermittent limp mode & cruise control cancelled for a year or so now and thought perhaps the turbo(s) were on their way out. Did as you said (removed both filters, rinsed through water and blew them out gently) and the car is transformed. Notably, the throttle response is now instant, plenty of poke even low down and about 20% better MPG on the motorway I'd say. Many thank yous.

Hope everything goes okay for you Julian, that's gnarly news to say the least. Best of luck with the recovery.

Hi Ciaran, thanks for your kind comments.

It’s really good to hear how Chris’ suggestions have worked for you as, I reckon, it’s a brilliant engine.

Cheers
