I’m going with a new unit as I’m keeping the car as it’s still in very good condition I really appreciate your help and i can’t Thankyou enough your a life saver.

I'm late to this party sorry... found this post when searching for com2000. As it happens I came across a vid on Youtube last night which show exactly what you say, wheeler:wheeler wrote: 24 Jul 2020, 16:11 There is a visual indicator on the com2000 unit to show when its in the middle, there is a kind of threaded groove with a pointer (the little white bit circled in green) in it, every time its rotated the little pinter moves along the groove so you can see its in the straight ahead position or not. However also on com2000 units the rotary part stays locked in the 12 o'clock position & cant be rotated unless you push the centre part (circled in orange) in, when the steering wheel is fitted this pushes down on it & unlocks it. If you push down in it & rotate it it will go a full 360 then lock again in the 12 o'clock position.
