Hi All

Have managed to order the part from Citroen (€12ish) and am please to say that although the thread does not go all the way down it is only the very last bit and so if I am stuck the bolt theoretically can come up.

Also as an aside I think I might need to get in and check the connections on the back of the main dashboard display and ECU and so was planning to purchase a Haynes manual... It looks like it is only an online version... I have emailed Haynes to see what they say as a print version is preferable... Are there any other options available to me in this respect.

I am going to check the connections on the UREA/Adblue systems when I have the car jacked up to do the bolt...

Will let you know how I get on...

Update:

So I managed to get the bolt from Citroen. decided to get my car on axle stands and remove the bolt. Squirted some penetrating oil on the top, which managed to get to the bottom.. wriggled under the car (small jack) and spent approx 6 hours trying to get the bugger out... The snapped bolt is about 30mm up the hole. I broke a number of different sized drill bits and managed to snap off the top 4 or 5 mm of an extractor tool... drilled some more blunted and snapped a couple more drill bits, got a larger extractor tool to bite a bit but kept threading out...

I tried to get some mole grips on the top but the ones I have are too bulky and the steering rack is in the way (don´t really want to mess with that. As far as I can determine, no glue is strong enough to glue a nut on the top so I could ratchet it off... so I went back under again.

Eventually gave up and put it all back together again... not enough impact to make any difference to safety or handling etc

Have ordered some cobalt tipped drill bits and am looking at a better extractor kit (STONE REEF Professional Screw Extractor Set) which seems to have pretty good reviews on amazon.es - they all seem to have some people who have snapped them off etc.

I don´t have any, but I am not sure how I can use cutting fluid upside down?

Will try again, when I have better kit and another possible afternoon.

The bolt is only screwed into the roll bar mount. I'd be tempted to see if you can remove it and deal with the bolt off the car. It may not be possible to get it out without removing the subframe, but ultimately that seems like it is going to be easiest - you've already messed about longer than dropping and refitting the subframe would take...

Thanks for the advice, I have just bought the Haynes Autofix so I´ll have a look at that as an option. I am slightly hindered by the worlds smallest trolley jack/lack of a pit/ramp
