Hi.
I know this is an old post, but give it a try.
My Citroen C5 mkII's heater stopped giving hot air.
It started with the passenger side (right side i Norway), and then the driver side stopped working. With temperature as low as -10 deg.C and even colder sometimes during wintertime. The only remaining pleasure of driving the car is the suspension.
With reference to post 10 showing the orientation of the flat face of the reduction motors spindle.

I have fixed the mixing flaps, but the motor will not reposition the spindle as shown in "GiveMeABreak" post.

Is there anyway to reposition the spindle ?
I asked the mechanics at the local citroen dealer, but they had not seen this before. And if they had seen it they would have replaced the motor.
I have tried to set the temperature to min and max to check the endpoint of the spindles travel, but it is 45 - 60 degrees off from what shown in "GiveMeABreaks" illustration.
I may be wrong, but it sems like the endpoint changes for each min - max - min rund. In other words, for instance the min endpoint seems to change, in other words, it seems to not go fully back to the previous min endpoint.

Just to clarify, the motor have not been fitted to the heater.

Hi Per, I can't help you further on this - the above are the official notes on replacement and there is no further official guidance.

Have you replaced both the Air Mixing (temperature) and Air Distribution (direction) motors (or taken both off)?

The instruction refers to the positioning tab for the 'mixing. flap, but does not mention this for the air distribution flap, Now whether PSA mean both motors or only the 'mixing' flap, I can't say, as typically PSA can be a bit vague.

Hi.

I found out how to reposition the mixing motors spindle.
When the flat surface is pointing against "e" as shown in the before mentioned post, the mixing flap will be i fully hot position.
When the spindle on the mixing motor rotates clockwise, the flap goes toward cold position.
The mixing flap have a rotating range of 90 degrees.

If one look at the mixing motor with the spindle towards you, "e" (maximum hot) represents 12 o'clock, while 3 o'clock represents fully cold. If the flat surface is between 12 and 3 o'clock it is possible to fit the mixing motor (valid range).

Here's a description of how to set the flat if it is outside valid range :
With the ignition on and the plug connected (I had the engine running):
1, Hold the motor in your hand and set the temperature to maximum, if the motor start turning, wait until the rotation stops.
2, Disconnect the plug from motor, switch ignition off and wait for at least one minute (Reason for this, when the ignition is switched off, the flap is supposed to return to cold position).
3, Connect the plug to the motor again and start the engine. If the heater is still set to maximum, the spindle will start turning. If the spindle ends up within walid range (12 to 3 o'clock) disconnect the plug when it is as
close as possible to 12 o'clok.
4, Repeat 2 and 3 until flat surface is within valid range.
5, Disconnect plug from motor, ingition off, orient mixing flap with respect to flat surface and fit the mixing motor.

I my situation, the mixing motor had became out of valid range due to the broken axle of the mixing flap.
It may also happen if the motor becomes disconnected when it is in fully open position, ignition becomes switched off, and the mixing motor is not fitted. If the motor is then reconnected to the plug, the control unit assumes that the motor is in cold position and start rotating the motor in hot direction if the temperature is set above minimum.

Keep in mind, there is no feedback from the motor to the control unit.
