Last time I needed mine done I drove the car down to Hastings where I kept Malcolm company for a few hours whilst he changed belt and pump. I've never drunk so many cups of tea in a day... 8-)

Sadly you can't visit the "Hastings Malcolm". He's no longer with us!

Yes approx 7 o'clock, use a small mirror and lamp and you can see it quite easily - when the pulley is in the correct position. A spare door mirror glass works well. One of the top timing cover bolts is round the back of the engine, you will probably have to feel for it. All 10mm.

I have one of these, invaluable when needed, useless otherwise.

Ideal. Remember to shine the light on the mirror then it will reflect directly onto the object.

Its not so very different from the XUD belt to change. I might have done it in 1.5 hours a few years ago, would take me most of the day now. :?

Well that's done, appointment was for 11.00 am, in there at 10.40, about 4 hours says the lady so I did all the shops on the out of town trading estate had a MacDonalds lunch and returned at 2.40, about 45 minutes says the lady, so I sat in their waiting room reading today's paper and watching tv, paid and came out at 3.20.

£345.00 as quoted, genuine parts.

Seems good, car washed and vacuumed out, 3 months 3000 miles guarantee on the work. Warners of Gloucester.
