They generally won't!
Unless there is a TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) that states an update should be done to cure any particular problems with the AM6, they will not be able to tell you. Normally they will just apply an update if there is a requirement to do so, but the details are all handled by the servers with little for the technician to do unless a test drive / recalibration is required to be done when driving the vehicle.

Finally got 'round to having a look.
Appears I've got the same software version, 13, as the previous commenter.
