Okay...the thumbnail for that video is showing something that is complete and utter rubbish. Can't actually view it just now on account of dodgy hotel WiFi that can't provide anything like video levels of bandwidth.
Piston return springs? Sorry...what?!? There is no such thing. There's nothing inside a cylinder other than the piston that moves up and down. The inlet and exhaust valves and either spark/glow plugs are attached firmly to the cylinder head. There are NO springs in the cylinders...nor under them. The piston is attached to the con rod which is connected to the crankshaft... that's it. The piston rings seal the tiny gap between the piston and cylinder wall, they're not visible unless you have already dismantled things and have started to actually remove a piston.
Anyone who tells you that your problems are due to piston return springs is either:
[] Trying to contact you into spending money.
[] Doesn't know the first thing about engines work and is blindly believing everything they see on YouTube, Twitter, Facebook etc.
If I was at home I'd post up a nice photo showing what you'd expect to see when you lift the head...four giant springs that look to have been taken out of a mattress aren't on that list!
Sorry if this reply is a bit of a rant - but this is a term I've heard mentioned a couple of times in the last few weeks...and is precisely the sort of things that people seem to be picking up on - and believing - on the internet these days.

Probably because it's "trending".
If enough people read about it then it becomes true...

But the sad thing is some people actually believe those spoofs and could end up injuring themselves. The bloke’s an idiot.

Where's your sense of humour gone? They are well made, obvious spoofs! If people get fooled by them then that's their problem not his! Calling someone an idiot just for making something like that is pretty harsh.
People complain about the "snowflake generation" then call people who make anything slightly risque idiots. You can't have it both ways!

The point being that he mixes up genuine stuff with spoof crap - and like the OP here^^^^^^ obviously got caught, it is very easy mixing up truth with rubbish for non-experts to end up doing stupid / dangerous things to their cars. The bloke is an idiot.

The OPs young son got caught, and the OP came to a sane (ish) place to ask advice as would any normal person who wasn't knowledgeable about engines. I presume most people would, and really, is anyone who doesn't understand engines going to go dismantling them looking for piston return springs or blinker fluid? I very much doubt It! They might look a tit at a garage for 5 mins but I think that's all the harm that will come of it.
