Yes very likely. Mpg dropping in this bad weather but still in the fifties. Silky smooth in the snow and ice.

I know I've been told it's not true, but the information was provided by the parts guy, who I know well. While we were talking, two technicians were swapping out the under-rear-seat battery pack from a Prius, with two more lined up for similar treatment. A small stack of new battery packs were in a bay, as were two Prii in the corner, with rear ends completely burned out. Not a reassuring sight. I can only assume that Toyota must be replacing a lot of these quite tiny battery packs (no bigger than a long suitcase) under warranty.

I'm with you there, Xantippa - I Don't know if the Ampera is any good, but it's certainly a much, much better looking car!

When driving 50km or less per day, Ampera would be nice alternative because you can use only electricity. And yes it's better looking, better to drive, and faster. Is there even that much price difference if you compare to plug-in Prius (that has pathetic electric range)?
