I suspect that if you just change the block and not the computer, then you won't need to configure it all. As to how easy it is to get them apart....

The service docs don't seem to imply it's difficult to separate. It might be that the actual block is common, and only the ECU is different - difficult to tell as there's no separate part number. You would need to match the maker's numbers to confirm this. The part numbers don't match against any other cars, but the pictures of the diagrams on later ones look similar, but that might be artistic licence!!!

An update guys - all fixed! Fitted a replacement block and module from eBay, bled brakes, switched on car following bsi reset procedure and all warning lamps are off n brakes working perfectly.

I believe this is a common fault with the com2000 steering wheel CPU dept.
