Sort of. The BSI will decide how many times you can open and then close the tailgate based upon reading, mainly, the condition of the battery. The tailgate strut motors must take quite a bit of power to operate.

Maybe this is the first sign that your battery is going to need replacing soon but, having said that, my X7 has been the same since I bought it a year and a half ago when it was 2-1/2 years old and had about 32,000 on the clock.

Something at the back of mind tells me there is a reset procedure for the tailgate. I'm sure Marc will know.
As I get older I think a lot about the hereafter - I go into a room and then wonder what I'm here after.

Inside every old person is a young person wondering what the hell happened.

thanks,
it's hard to find a good c5, i saw one with a horrible clutch vibration and electric parking brake warning, dpf blocked warning on the dash :(
I'm guessing it is a lot of cash changing the dmf and clutch and getting the dpf sorted?
why?

Just over a grand for the Clutch and DMF. DPF won't necessarily be an issue - as long as the Additive is topped up and it is allowed to regenerate the filter regularly (circa every 300 miles), it shouldn't be a problem.

IIRC Peugeot/Citroen have the best DPF system. In the 8 years of driving a Citroen with a DPF, I have never had any problems with it. My car is mainly used for short (work) journeys of 6 miles or less, all non motorway. I will do a longish motorway drive at least every 2 month sometime quicker.

They introduced it back in 2000 and were the first to introduce it in passenger cars. They were ahead of the game and fitted the filters to all relevant cars from 2009 2 years ahead of the Euro V standards. Their filters were also used by Ford, Fiat and Lancia.
Driving at 40 MPH is sufficient to aid the car as long as it is on a bit of a run. It's the urban driving and short trips with constant stopping and starting of the vehicle and being stuck in traffic that doesn't help the temperature and pressure of the exhaust gases reach levels needed for regeneration to occur. They still have one of the best systems available IMO.
