I suppose it depends on what you mean by basic code readers ? do you mean £20 eBay specials or just not Lexia/Diagbox ?
There is some decent kit pro kit out there, I have Bosch KTS, I've not tried it on every PSA model but apart from a few things, mainly coding keys & new control units I don't think I have found much on PSA cars it doesn't do that diagbox can.

Knowing the price of a KTS 350, I'd hope it can do all that and more :)

I am most impressed and grateful for the effort you all have taken.
I will do these things;
Trace a Lexia specialist near Chester.
I will clean the ABS sensors, do I just gently prise them out of the tube?
Then report back to you nice people.
Thank you, John.

I hope that the link in my previous post helps. Good luck with getting her back into proper working order.

Thanks Hell Razor, have tried copying two members names from the list but unless I am doing something wrong it does
not recognise the two names and knocks the email back.

How are you sending the emails? I didn't realise that they were publicly visible?

Or do you mean that you've tried to send a Private Message?

We are updating the list John, if the name has a clickable hyperlink, it will take you to their profile page, where on the left you can see the option to PM them (send a Priivate Message) or Email them - in which case a box will appear where you can type the message and subject. You can also opt to copy the message to your own email.

The email is then sent on your behalf by the French Car Forum, so keeping email addresses private, and will appear to come from the member's actual Forum username.

If there is no clickable hyperlink for the member, then you can always search in the members list from the top menu on the forum home page using the username. Then you can click on their name to go to their profile and follow the above steps from there.
Please note, I'm no longer active on the Forum, so won't respond to messages.

OK, this is the latest. The STOP ESP/ASR Engine SERVICE lights were on and the error code indicated the ABS pump had failed.
I changed the ABS pump and bled the system. STOP light and engine lights now out.
Drives OK. ABS light comes on as it should and goes off seconds later.
ESP/ASR, SERVICE lights still on. Latest error code is P1613 (ECU downloading & configuration) which my garage says that the pump needs configuring
to the vehicle. Is that right?
It seems I need someone who knows how to drive a Lexia?
I have seen a list of Lexia users but not sure how to get in contact with them......do I paste their user name in a message.....does not work?
Will try again with the latest advice, thanks.

My local Citroen specialist is not sure what to do and if he can help.

That deep Canal looks like the end of the road for this car.......just spent new tyres, battery, brakes etc.

You can PM them - just put the username in the address box.

Note that there are some that no longer appear to visit the forum.

Is there an active member out there that would be prepared to give this C5 a go with a Lexia please?
I am prepared to pay a reasonable fee if required to match the replacement ABS pump to the car,
the code is P1613. Gibbo on the Wirral?
Thanks, John.

Sorry John, I'm a long way from the Wirral I'm in the Forest of Dean....................and I don't have a working Lexia...yet.

I asked further up the thread if you had a firm brake pedal, the reason I asked was that the ABS pump if it needs secondary bleeding will give you a proper hard pedal while the engine's not running but can cause the pedal to sink slowly with light pressure with the engine running, this will cause the ESP light to stay on.

Sorted mine with the Snap-On diagnostics tool mentioned earlier.

Thanks, will try bleeding the system again as the pedal does sink slowly when engine runs but is hard pedal
when engine is stopped. Is there a special way apart from the normal to bleed the system?

Yes it's a Lexia job.......or like mine done with a Snap-on set up, there's a you tube video somewhere, not Citroen but the same principle, I'll try to find it and post it up.

Here, it's a chatty Yank but it's the same.

Thanks for the video and I have now ordered a Chinese Lexia to extract the error codes. Latest problem with non working speedo is the source
of the signal is the cause, wherever that is, not the clock.
What is fascinating is that with the ABS/ESP/ASR all not working the car flies!
If all my efforts do not sort things out I shall smite it with a large tree branch in a Pythonesque manner, prior to immersion in the canal.

I'm in Wirral - or at least will be when I get back from France. My Lexia is quite old but it certainly works on Mk1 and Mk2 cars.

I'll be back at the beginning of November. I don't have internet all the time in France (that is a three page rant about the inefficiency of SFR just by itself) so don't worry if you PM me in the meantime and don't get a reply.
