I though it better to mention it for correctness and for others browsing this for future reference who have a MK II or later James. :-D

Love the Cruise on my C5 (2.2 HDi Exclusive) - so much so, that the non working cruise on my xantia is now very much on the `to do `list.

Something that you might also want is an automatic rear view mirror. If your C5 has automatic windscreen wipers the wiring for the mirror should already be in place. If you want to check, carefully slide the mirror down (so it comes off its' mount), and then check under the headlining. There may be a pair of wires terminating in a blue plug (probably covered in foam tape, with the foam coming off).

I got mine at the same time (and from the same scrapyard) for £15. It does not need to be configured in any way. These mirrors work by having a simple circuit, which has a light sensor pointing forwards (this is for the reference light levels), another sensor pointing backwards (this is the trigger sensor), an on/off push button switch, and a variable effect on the mirror. Unlike the manual mirrors (which are either day or night) this mirror can adjust depending on how much light is hitting the trigger sensor (and comparing against the reference sensor).

I'll Keep it in mind when I go into the breakers, I will have to have a look to see if the wiring is there first though, but could be a nice upgrade, the maxima I had had one but it was hit and miss when it worked how effective is the citroen one.

The only time I ever think about cruise control is when I read yet another post on my Cadillac forum of choice bleating about it not working. Iusually can't resist reminding them it's only a gimic (well, alright, a toy) & if it's failed after 12,15, 20-odd years, to live without it. It is, of course, pure devilment, because I've learned that, probably, even more important to Americans than cupholders are cruise & central locking - whereas I haven't got time for them. in fact, the cupholder in the C15 is far more useful than the other toys in my Yanks.

Must confess cruise is great for stress free progress past average speed cameras, or would be if I could ever remember/work out how to activate, & set, it in time.

Bottom line: if it's not worth fixing, it can't possibly be worth retro-fitting!

I like having the automatic mirror. It reacts quickly enough to be useful, and yet (because of the analogue capability of the mirror) you can still make out details in the mirror.

thanks for that James my yearly mileage is going to be increasing significantly and I think the cruise and the auto dim would be beneficial for night driving and motorways plus I like toys
