I'd be a bit worried about breaking the chip myself.
Have you a picture of the key or a link to a similar one?
I'll suggest how I'd go about it but I need to know what the key looks like.

Typically the 'chip' is a small glass capsule about twice the size of a grain of rice.

Those are not OEM PSA fob chips James, they are third party ones and won't be the type the OP is looking to locate in his Fob.

Erm, I have seen that type of chip design in a Citroen Relay van fob (the fob case was damaged and needed replacing). Swapped over the circuit board and glass capsule and the van was happy to unlock and start up.
