Not all steel wool is the same. I Have used 0000 grade wool on a hardwood table to clean the hard lacquer to a high polish.

Test yes, but I do think it would work fine.

....we shall see, a quick "group" test guys. Any bit of glass would do.

More twist required - wiper arms are surprisingly resistant to modification in this direction! For some reason Xantias seem to suffer badly with the arm twisting - had to give mine a good talking to. Give the wiper arm a little push at rest and watch the blade - it should flip over right away. If it doesn't then twist it - a lot! You need to twist it a lot more than the final position to get it to take the twist - and you likely need some tooling - I've used 2 pairs of water pump pliers in the past.

Reminds me, must get some new blades for the Picasso as they have taken a permanent set and judder nicely....

I watched a similar video the other day that was advocating the use of a clay bar instead of the steel wool, also putting two or three coats of wax on the screen to finish it.

The wool not for me either. Hmm.

Interesting comment about vodka and other rough spirit in the screenwash . . . Carrefour here sell some own-brand Screenwash (5L, ready-to-use), which is really effective in cutting through bugs and other nasties. It's got a really high IPA (alcohol) content, and gives driver and passengers a real waft of Gin when used. Wonderful stuff.

I've had a 5L bottle of Isopropanol in my eBay basket for over a year - too stingy to buy it

I did get two bottles of meths from Home Bargains last week for only 99p each - IIRC they are £3.35 in B&Q

Any printer using offset litho will have 20L drums of IPA on hand. Chat up a friendly one, if available. It always was very cheap stuff. All printers' suppliers stock it.

If it's badly oiled, smeared AND pitted, might be easier to get a new windscreen and pay the £70 excess and be done with it.

I must have spent a fortune on regular replacements of wiper blades on my Citroens over the years. Replacing them, mostly Bosch, sometimes Valeo, at least once a year. A few months ago my grandchildren riding in the back on a rainy day got scared and next started laughing hearing the thudder, nearly thunder, of the rubbers trying to clear the screen of rain. I then decided to finally do something as a long term solution. I got myself a pair of these silicone aeroblade wipers. They did the job quite well, but they were damn noisy. I now have found the perfect blades: PIAA Super Silicone. I recommend them highly.?They are very effective and very quiet. I bought them on Amazon from the Japanese supplier. Googling you will find suppliers in the UK and many other countries.
The pdf in the link http://www.piaa.co.jp/wp/wp-content/the ... f/18-7.pdf shows which sizes are available (in Japan). I got IWS50. IWS50FB has large spoilers. In Japanese these are called silicote or silicoat wipers. In 5 minutes they coat the glass when dry. Rubber refills are available.
