I have my electric handbrake set to manual activation to reduce the number of activations / deactivations made and 'possibly' to help extend operational use before any maintenance. This was an option in the system menu, but suddenly disappeared after it went into the garage for something, I can't remember what now. Anyway using Diagbox I have added this option back onto the menu and this is the mode I prefer to use.

It doesn't affect the Hill Start function at all, or the auto-release, but allows me to manually apply the handbrake only when I want. I would suggest that this may extend the period before any maintenance is required to the electronic release system and internal cables.

That will rule out any Exclusives and some earlier Auto & 2.2 VTR+ choices then.

The system is great but I was going to deactivate it as well.....but I found it only works when I would of applied it anyway and I do not like sitting on the footbrake at lights as it boils my @@@@ when others do........so for me it is a perfect driver aid in its standard form.

Towed 1.3 ton of rads in a HorseBox on Friday....Hill Start was great !

Sadly if you want a late model with wet suspension this means buying an Exclusive which in turn means an electric handbrake.

I would dearly have loved NOT to have an electric handbrake on my new X7

Yes - watch for the DS after a few seconds!
Also - forgot to mention Citroën no longer have the C5 on the website (actually they did this morning under new cars - but when you go to the configurator it isn't there).. :bigcry:

well thanks all, some useful bits in there :rofl2:

I will start on this job in 24 hours..

decided to try and tackle myself.. going to change pads and discs, and have a clean up and 'a look abbaate' is Micky Flanagan says...
Have found some pointers online.. will take a pic or two.. just hope the work fixes the EPB.. quite sure the pads and discs need doing anyway..
