I thought tyre pressure monitors were now an MOT requirement if originally fitted.....???

What about this situation: supposedly, the Citroen Dealers won't turn of the system when you have a spare wheel set with winter tyres fitted to the car (meaning, you'll have to drive for the entire season with warnings for all 4 sensors) ... that in case the car's warranty is still applicable ... leaving you either with that, or to buy 4 other sensors or to have 4 existing ones moved to the other wheel set ...

I think that in practice the important thing is "if fitted" rather than "if originally fitted". AFAIK there's no central database of cars fitted with TPMS senders if they were an optional fitment and the testers just look out for a warning lamp or message. You can't even rely on the valve being a TPMS type if it's a metal type held in with a nut as this could simply be a competition type valve (I had these 35 years ago).

This may change as TPMS valves become mandatory for all passenger vehicles as I think they are already for HGVs.

I'm sure one our MOT testers will be able to clarify.

It shouldn't be a fail on cars before 01/01/2012 even if the light is lit, as the check only applies to cars beyond that date....but arguing that with the MOT man might be difficult! Note that showing a low tyre pressure is not a reason for failure, only if a fault is indicated!

Ditto on that for my 2003 C5. However...

On my 2013 C5 I can be driving along and suddenly I get a message flashing up which says "Front LH tyre not being monitored" (or words to that effect) and the Service message comes up on the display.. The Service message will disappear (not sure whether during a drive or it needs a restart) and then at some time again the process repeats itself.

Two points - is this now a fail to have Service on the display? Secondly, fixing the fault. Is it likely to be the sensor (I believe that there are individual ones in the wheel arch liners), could it be a faulty sender, or what?

The X7 only has alloy sensors/transmitters and a central receiver antenna, which is mounted below the spare wheel well .. an that goes to the TMPS ECU, usually located behind the left boot panel

In that case it sounds like a faulty sender. Wonder if it's still covered by a warranty of some kind.

Eventually Phil found the programme to disable each individual wheel sensor, so we did! Simples, ( sort off).

LOL, the same "solution" I found for my 2003 C5.

And now on the drive home the "electric parking brake" warning came on..............along with the SERVICE light of course...
