If you dont like my builders plastic idea how about one of those poundland baking sheets, they will take the heat and are thin, in real life I dont think the rear brakes usually get that hot, not many C5s doing trackdays, yet !!

I tend to agree about the lack of heat, maybe fully loaded with a caravan ?

In reality, any barrier method would work I expect and as long as that barrier does not interfere with the joint (weaken it) & that the bolts are also isolated as much as possible with thread lock and the joint is maintained 100% moisture proof.

just thought i better share a bit of information as there is alot of talk of splitting the rear calipers destroys them the only thing in the centre of the caliper is an "o"ring i discovered this and replaced it, brakes are working perfect in fact after cleaning up the caliper theyre working better.I had to take the calipers off the car to get the retaining bolts out for doing the arms so being me im defiant when told you cant do that thankfully it payed off.

Just a reminder that the calipers can be swapped over so that the uncorroded faces are next to the arms; the bleed nipples and hoses have the same size threads. Take it easy removing the nipples after all that work , though - you really don't want to have to remove a sheared one!
