A sad, sad time indeed. I can only echo all the sentiments expressed, especially his knowledge, helpfulness, gentle humour and patience. RIP Malcolm.

Re: RIP Citronut
So sorry to hear this news. Again, I'm another person who never met him, but from all I read on here about him and from him in all the threads, he seemed to be a perfectly decent, mild mannered, knowledgeable and well grounded guy to know. And as per previous thread he seemed to put up a good fight to the illness.
All I can say is, he's probably in a better place now anyway, yes he'll miss his cars, but at least he'll know there are still plenty of us who share his passion.
My sincere condolences to his family!

Re: RIP Citronut
I would like to say a thank you for all of Malcolm's contributions, informative, helpful, knowledgeable and humourous over the years I have enjoyed being a part of this community. This community was obviously very important to Malcolm and his family, and the sharing of updates through James, surely touched all of our hearts.
My best wishes go to Malcolm's family.
Malcolm could always be relied upon to join in and come up with an interesting story. Here's one from "Nostalgia First Cars" concerning a £25 blue Hillman Imp and a journey from Hythe to Dover.....

Regards Neilwe pointed the Imp up Dover hill fully laden with sis in law her two kids and hubby, and her in doors and of course the driver ( me ),
just about coxed the poor thing up around the first bend of the hill and she refused ( dug her heals in ( no not the sister in law ) point blank to go any further,
i managed to roll her back into a farm entrance to go back down the hill and attempt Canterbury hill as it is less steep, then head to Dover via Alkham Valley,
got up the hill and onto the Alkham road, them my sister in law stats panicking and shouting pill over!!! let us out!!!!, theres flames comming out of the back of the back of the car,
i pulled over onto the grass verge and they all bundled out and ran across the other side of the road,
my brother in law and i gingerly went over to it and opened the boot lid to see a small flame coming from a hole in the side of the crank case,
i went back a couple of days later to retrieve her remains and she was gone![]()

This is such a sad day. I never met Malcolm but felt I knew him from reading so many of his posts while trying to keep Snoopy (Xantia) on the road.
RIP Malcolm, we (and our Citroëns) will miss you.
My thoughts are with his family.

I never met Malcolm but certainly felt that I knew the man. His humour made me laugh many a time and i wonder at times if he ever realised the effect he was having in making so many other forum'ers days [emoji1]
Guess I'll never know now [emoji20]
Like so many other things in life, you never appreciate until it's gone.
RIP Malcolm ... and condolensces to those you've left behind for whom your loss, I'm sure, will be many times more than mine.

Re: RIP Citronut
I only ever met Malcolm once, it was at Little Horwood, this funny little chap approached me, it was also like a sketch from Steptoe & Son.........
Malcolm, was one of those rare breed of people who become a legend in their own lifetime, I remember getting a PM from him, asking if I could do him a favour, there was a bloke 'just round the corner' who had offered a collection of Citroen Manual..... free to a good home......... Malcolm asked if I could collect them, anticipating a couple of boxes, off I went only to discover the said "collection" filled the boot of the C6............
The collection made it's way south to Malcolm, and his safe keeping......... via various stops and layovers along the way, I wonder what other long lost treasure will be found in Malcolm's garage

On that note, It may be good to offer a "service" to Malcolm's family (at the right time naturally) to help them work out what to do, document and check all the stuff etc, I am sure he has collected many items and equipment over the years, they may need help sorting things.
Also, are we going to try and have representatives to mark his passing ?

I am in communication with Mike, and he has offered to help out (as he has a few days off), and will also try to attend the funeral. If I can, I would also like to attend.

Likewise with attending his funeral, it'd be nice to give him a good send off so to speak.CitroJim wrote:I too am very keen to attend the funeral James....

Re: RIP Citronut
He had a DS in a garage a few down from his workshop. It needs a lot of work, and (IIRC) Citronut said it hadn't run in 30 years. He showed it to me when we had finished working on Gracie.
