I recently got my 19 year old daughter a 1.1 Pug 206 as her first post driving test car and I have to say have been very impressed with it as far as speed and economy. Really peppy engine, quite torquey and refined. Got it for £775 (seller was after £1200 and no way it was worth that) I have fully serviced it including belts and cleaned up the underside. Its in the diablo red.
Her first ever car so quotes scary on insurance - came out at about £800 over the year and thats with a "box " installed. I have always bought diesels and love the XUDs although they seem to be rarer and rarer but thought the insurance on a DW8 or HDi would be too much. Had a Xsara with the DW8 - I liked it. Never had any issues with the engine at all.
Which 206 Engine?

Re: Which 206 Engine?
Pleased you got sorted. Yes insurance very difficult for youngsters now and I have heard of much higher quotes but being 19 helps. My insurance was down to about £130 last year but its £150 this year because I'm past 75
Unless she is doing a high mileage its hardly worth running a diesel now unless its one of the older ones. The 2.0. 8 valve is almost indestructable but they only used them until about 2004.
Hope she manages to stay accident free.
