rear height corrector removal

Malcolm, The rebuilt corrector moves probably 2-3mm now. However the one I removed earlier is absolutely solid, and has been attacked before and has a cracked sealing ring . Repair by precision percussive adjuster methinks .
As far as I have progressed, all is lubricated and ready to be re-mounted. Thanks again for all the help/comments.
Note to self; must do better next time . Will be pleased to get it back on the road again.... Then will have to start attacking the Exclusive .

Looks like I have bent one of the pipes into the corrector and 6 hours over 2 days and cannot get union to screw in. Threads on both are fine using tap and nut to check.. So, can someone please furnish me with the info as to replacement part no for the pipe from K branch in front of rear centre sphere to height corrector? Or a used one, or cost to supply me one in cunifer which may be a lot easier to fit?

you are aware the tip of the pipe protruding from the nut must be perfectly straight and in line with the nut,
if this section becomes bent on removing the pipe from a hydraulic unit/union, i use the likes of an 8mm or so ring spanner over the pipe stub to ease it back straight,

unless they are perfectly straight they will not go in, as the tip of the pipe has to locate in the back of the hole/union,

Malcolm, That's exactly what's happened and most of the time under the car has been spent on trying to straighten it without obvious success. The pipe was difficult to remove and I have obviously made it worse. Problem is there is hardly any room to work, and although I have loosened the other end into the K connector with a view to straightening it out on the bench, it is so tight in the connector, which floats around anyway, that I am concerned that that end will wind up the same. Hence thinking of a replacement.

if you employ loads of gentle PERCY WHAT SIT it will all of a suden drop into place and allow the nut to screw into the thread

Thought I would tidy this thread up. Having taken the pipe off, it was not badly out of line. Eventually I found it was the rubber seal that was preventing the pipe entering the thread. I made up a tool out of an old but substantial screwdriver by using a slitting disk to put a 3.5mm slot in the end and used it to straddle the pipe and lever the nipple in. Took a bit of care, but worked like a charm. All working ok now . Not a leak in sight and the suspension has never been this supple or as quick to rise and fall. The ride has never been this good (at the rear) since I first bought the car. The front will have to wait until I can get some ramps to lift the car higher, as barely having enough clearance to get under is both very wearing, uncomfortable and feels lacking in the safety department, even with the car blocked up on 4 stout logs. Judging by the state of the rear corrector, I'm guessing that the front will be full of crud too. Well thats the end of this particular saga. Thanks to all for the advice and for putting up with my problems. Would also mention the excellent articles on cleaning the cradle and refettling the corrector - master classes both .

did you try fitting the pipe with the seal on it, or did you fit the seal into the H/C first, as the later is the best way but just mind you dont pinch the rubber on locating the pipe

Will be delighted to pop in, but if the C5 is the qualifier, may be a little while yet . Must say both your C5 and Activa are in superb condition. The Activa especially is barely believable; and when you take into account it's age... . Well done indeed .

Malcolm, Ah the error of my ways! As per advice picked up somewhere, put the seal on the pipe, which of course led to the problem in the first place . Have to say, did wonder . Another lesson for next time; why are there so many???? .
