Any idea if the rear suspension struts for the Mk 1 C5s are still available?
Mine has a leak that is getting worse, I was hoping to keep it going until the new year and replace the whole car but that may not be viable.

Just had an email from Glovebox to say that they can't supply them - their supplier listed two but in actuality had none.

You may get them from Eurocarare and a bit cheaper. Mk1 facelift has a larger dia cylinder than the first C5

Re: C5 rear suspension boot
To avoid confusion - it is the build date that makes the difference on the MK I - not the MK II (facelift). From 1st October 2003, they all went to 40 mm Diameter on the MK I:lexi wrote: 18 Nov 2019, 19:49 You may get them from Eurocarare and a bit cheaper. On the MK I Saloon up until RPO 09822 (30 September 2003):
527260 (H3) Left Diameter 37
527261 (H3) Right Diameter 37
527262 (H3+) Left Diameter 37
527263 (H3+) Right Diameter 37
MK I Saloon from RPO 09823 (1 October 2003) or Estate regardless:
527270 (H3) Left 40 Diameter
527269 (H3) Right 40 Diameter
527272 (H3+) Left 40 Diameter
527271 (H3+) Right 40 Diameter
MK II Saloon or Estate:
All 40 mm Diameter
527269 Right (H3)
527270 Left (H3)
527271 Right (H3+)
527272 Left (H3+)
So to confirm correct type for a MK I, refer to your RPO build date.

Re: C5 rear suspension boot
I wonder if the Polish supplier for the front strut you bought might have them.
I'll check RPO tomorrow.

Did you have any luck? I need to replace the same part on a C5 MKII (OEM 527269) but finding a replacement is a nightmare.myglaren wrote: 18 Nov 2019, 20:45 I wonder if the Polish supplier for the front strut you bought might have them.

Re: C5 rear suspension boot
No, never did check the RPO as my son has the car most of the time now. It isn't leaking as badly as he had made us believe.
I'm resigned to scrapping the car in a few months.

OK. I'll give it a shot. Who was the dealer you were going to try?

Re: C5 rear suspension boot
You can still get the seals (piston rings) and rebuild them. As long as the cylinder is not scratched badly. There are write ups on this forum somewhere. Hey Steve are you gonna spring for a later C5?

Re: C5 rear suspension boot
The dealers don't have them. There was one listed at glovebox but when I ordered it they found that they didn't actually have one.
No, I find them claustrophobic in comparison to the earlier ones and the amount of electrical/electronic failures, the steering rack and strut problems, along with the nightmare electronic handbrakes deter me from going down that road.
I think a V70 D5 would be suitable, missed a SAAB 93 estate from a couple of miles away. Some kind of estate again anyway, to accommodate son's mountain biking trips.
