I went back to a Xantia as a stop gap but I think i prefer the way Xantias drive and I think they are a better looking car than the c5.

Short list for now is either a Xantia or c5 but it must be estate and diesel

I think the Xantia does drive a lot better than the C5s and its a much better looking car. However that is my opinion and its very much divided here

Having not owned a Xantia I can't really comment but I suspect that is true, I have run XMs for many years and they are definitely better than the C5 in some aspects, engine refinement being one but as there is no longer a plentiful supply of XMs I have switched to the C5 on the basis that its the only modern car with a decent ride and it has the space and comfort I require.

I agree, the C5 does make good sense as a more modern car. I've used our C5 estate quite a lot recently and while I don't enjoy driving it, it certainly has a decent ride and the refinement is better than the earlier cars. I often think about buying another C5 and I probably would if we didn't have two in the family which I drive frequently.

The 406 Hdi is the nicer car to drive, feels much tighter and up together and more relaxing but it doesn't of course have the ride or space of the C5 - so I keep one of each
