S1 Xantia, alarm problems....

S2 alarms do not have a key cut off under the bonnet. It was deleted. There should be a red led that blinks of the drivers door and little ultra sonic sensors on both doors

Thanks mandrake but if you read back you will see that tim said his SERIES 2 doesnt seem to have an alarm so in typical fcf fashion the topic has switched to s2 alarm discussion.

Nope. None of those things are fitted to my S2. No wonder the alarm didn't go off when it got broken in to. Is it possible to retrofit an alarm from a "normal" Xant?

Not a factory xantia alarm probably not.. it would have to be an aftermarket one.

This is because its all linked into the cars ecu the indicators the door locks.. in saying that the harness plugs could all be in place ready and it might be a case of plug the box's in and see..

On a Series 2 Xantia the alarm is part of the CPH / Texton ECU that controls central locking and immobilisation, its possible to enable and disable the alarm feature permanently with a Lexia, so potentially you might be able to fit the missing bits like the sensors/wiring/siren etc then enable it with a Lexia.

You can monitor the state of the input sensors for the alarm such as door switches with a Lexia, it would be very interesting to put a Lexia on a S2 Xantia that doesn't have an alarm and see how much alarm functionality still exists in the CPH, and whether it is already wired up to door switches etc, If it has the same configuration options as a model with an alarm its probably just the lack of the external hardware being connected and the alarm functionality being turned on in the CPH.

Well the wiring for the alarm cancel button is already there so you never know..
