yeah i wasn't too sure about the bsi but then i realized that the actuator test for the clutch through pp2000 was through the bsi menu... http://bratene.net/?p=86" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; that is a link to some Norwegian site about a repair to the bsi. his issue sounds very similar to mine

Hi Again Guys, Well its all fixed! after further investigation i found out that there is in fact a relay in the bsi unit that switches the air con on. I went to the Peugeot dealer and told them about this. Straight away they knew what I was talking about and said they have had 30-40 of them repaired from the 406! This relay was faulty and i had it replaced this afternoon. Cost $150 NZD, didnt think that was too bad considering the bsi had to be carefully cut open and the relay soldered in. Such a vital piece of equipment i wasn't game enough to play with!

This page is very good http://bratene.net/?p=86" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and explains everything pretty much apart from which wire coming from the bsi is the a/c one to test. It is the grey wire coming out of the bright green connector plug.
Hope this fix will help others

Cheers Guys

Thanks for posting back with the solution. Appreciated. :)

I'm slightly surprised (although not that much) that they are soldered into place to prevent easy replacement but then again the BSi is a sealed unit in effect which in principle is OK but relays fail more than solid state electronics so some allowance for that should of been made given the high cost of a replacement.
