806 Auto box problem

The 806 seems to be running well after the gearbox solenoid change.

My friend is running without the software upgrade and says the gearbox feels very smooth and performs well.

What may be the effect of running without the software being updated?

I assume it's running at higher pressures than expected.

Any thoughts?

The main detail of the upgrade as I understand it, is a change in the modulation frequency from 50Hz to 100Hz.

I'd imagine this provides smoother control of pressure/flow and heats up the solenoids less.
