the back was very soft/squidgy....I thought, hey that not right....or is it.

That is normal. Damping at road speed is fine; it just allows a softer feel at a crawl or when loading in/out.

The rear's lightness is corners is probably due to people braking slightly; on a Xantia or earlier this will not lighten the rear but the C5's conventional brakes don't dip the the back end slightly as it anchors.

Still, if one doesn't like it, sell. A simple fix.

I use to do a lot of miles when I was working and I came to the conclusion that comfort was preferable to speed many years ago which was why I started running Citroens. Its also much cheaper to just 'waft' along than drive like a lunatic, I did my fair share of 'boy racing' when I was a boy, but that was many years ago, its much more relaxing to drive a comfortable car steadily.

I dont drive daft either, never really have, i know its big and bouncy, but to bouncy for my liking.....i've had a few est's over the years (850T5, A6, Mondeo and maybe a couple more i cant remember) but nothing as bouncy as this.....infact to be honest, after saying the 850, i might go back to that but diesel

Your suspension shouldn't be bouncy but just soft, I suppose your spheres are OK, if they are flat that would cause it to bounce. Has it been fitted with the wrong spheres I wonder. Try another C5 and see how it compares.

If it is bouncy then the spheres are in need of replacement. It should waft over bumps without you noticing them, which is surely the reason suspension was designed, I really dont think I could ever go back to a conventionally sprung car now. Which might be a problem since Citroen doesn't seem to want to carry on its legacy.
