but how much fuel is going to get dragged through before the coolant is 70C.. on a normal day I dont see that temp for my whole commute (10 mins)

I may try the GP one.. just to see ;)

The thing with coolant heaters is that you need the engine to be hot to heat the coolant to heat the fuel, by the time it does that the built in heater will be heating the fuel to the filter aleviating the issue, hence why Cassy can be a bit sluggish first thing in the morning, but after a mile or so when the engine is up to 60C she's fine.
An electric heater such as the glow plug blocks before the filter housing will reduce this sluggish time, assuming it is able to provide enough heat.
I'm pretty sure Dave the Rave has a similar heater on his Lucas CX with a twin tank system (because lucas pumps are too weak to not flush them with derv before you stop ;) )

Yeah joking of course guys. Does your wvo not get thin enough with the standard Xantia heated fuel filter and the thinning with some dino diesel and tiny amount of petrol

Or do you not want to buy ANY diesel at all :shock: :)

Why not use an HDi coolant heater as a fuel heater, it uses four glowplugs and warms up rather quickly to say the least, at what temperature does WVO instantly combust? :twisted:

I am sure I set a chip pan on fire once....

Will let you know how I get on with the single block approach.. may buy a temp gauge and probe to see what's happening.. to be honest I wanted one for the coolant anyway, as I dont trust the gauge on there...

Here you are John, as Richard suggests... 206 coolant heater block on the 'bay

As long as you don't have vapour and the heater block is always full of WVO, setting it on fire will not be an issue. WVO flashpoint will be around 50 odd degrees I'd have thought...
