Happened to me. Wouldn't hold it's charge for more then 48 hours. Boot light is a good bet. Mine sticks on. That's another job!!!

As a guide, the standing current on a Xantia with the ignition off is around 50mA.

I've used a good old-fashioned AVOMeter in the negative lead to check this in the past. Connect the meter in on the 10A range, allow the alarm to properly settle, switch off and observe. Pull selected fuses to see where the current is going if it's vastly in excess of 50mA..

Don't ever try to start the car with a meter in place...
