Shame, I had a little shock today I checked the sills on my zx and had an area that felt very thin , so after a wire wheel job , cutting out the rot it got a new plate 10 inches long and all shaped to fit all welded up and vactan painted took 3 hours next when the filler arrives I'll skim it over flatten it down then stone chip the whole cill.

I was really ment to be rubbing The passenger side wing down for respray ... But that will be for another day thanks to the cill, at least it won't be picked up on its next mot

The only ZX Parts I have are a couple of 'ZX Specific' Engine / Gearbox brackets / linkages and a Window Switch but if you need anything XUD related, then I might be able to help. I'm also aware of one, possibly two; XUD's breaking (not ZX's)

Have a good look for tin-worm beyond the Wing if that's why you need one; the ZX I broke was absolutely riddled with it.

I've almost completed the left side of rust proofing all looks very good I've the odd patch of surface rust here and there very pleased really its solid so what I'm doing should help it more.

Where do you get the rubber o rings for the brake vacuum pump ?

Lucky enough its pretty sound so vactan and the wax oil treatment I'm doing should save my old girl preventative work !! As they say

My engine bay was treated by The last keeper I've had to weld four small plates in total nothing to bad either , if I find holes I'll cut back to good metal template them then cut my plates then weld them in and vactan and wax oil them over jobs a good un

85% of the underside of the car has been treated and waxoiled , looking good and I'm knackered

thanks Husky, I'm amazed that my searching didn't find it, was doing that very job myself about two months ago.

Nice to see that a youngster's interested in ZX's, which were very definitely in the 'Unloved' category for a long time; possibly still are; rare now though, specially the Estate.

I'm surprised that the video guy just put the camshaft in with the existing shims and did no measuring, grinding the valves will almost certainly reduce the gaps, also didn't suggest that the valve faces need checking for pitting.

I was surprised as much as what you are but he did say he knew the gap was good and the shims were too , his proof will be in the pudding on start up , my guess is it will run fine ... But for how long were have to see.

It is nice to see a down to earth guy doing home mechanical work these days most of it is plugged into computers
