Hmmm, might take heed of your words of wisdom come next oil change!

So, how much do I squirt in? I dont mind a mess OUTSIDE of car but not too enthused with the thought of oil in the passenger compartment due to me filling too far

You shouldn't get oil inside the car if you put it in the right place. About 1/4 pint or even less in each sill will thouroughly soak the inside, it will drip out of the drain holes but if you use cheap new engine oil it will not make to much mess. The box sections underneath usually have holes or spaces that you can spray/squirt the oil into, if you can get it to stay in it will gradually creep.. Needless to say you need to do this when the car is dry.

Can anyone clarify the rumour that all PSA cars are galvanised from the factory?

Certainly some were, including the Xantia and XM but it only seems to have a limited life. I believe my last CX was galvanised, it certainly faired better than the early ones but some rust started to develop by the time I sold it.

The factory galvanising and rust treatment was applied to a pre determined pattern based on likely rust points. Seen some pictures showing the chosen pattern on XM. Some parts were untreated such as subframes and strut head bases. Galvanising just means the rusting is likely to appear later in the cars life and at unexpected places. Once galvanising fails rapid pinhole corrosion can happen. We are beginning to see the results with some XM's.
For example: Cills that rust from the inside first provided the jacking points remain undamaged.
