The Activa 2 always struck me as more of an XM coupé than a Xantia, and for me, while I can appreciate the looks, it does strike me as a little "american"
Much prefer the concept art of the Xantia coupé, better looking than the 406, although that was a vast improvment on the looks of the normal 406 monstrosity!

Talking of monstrosities, the MK3 XM is just wrong!

CitroJim wrote:Today at Stratford, we were able to closely look at an Activa V6 conversion carried out by BL Autos.

It was on a very, very tidy late green MK2 and no word of a lie you could not tell in any way it was a conversion. It looked just like a factory job.

Excellent and very impressive :D Not only was the engine subject to an upgrade, the whole car received a lot of Exclusive bits including cream leather interior. It may even have had cruise control.

Maybe the ultimate Xantia. Activa, V6, all the Exclusive bits and manual gearbox :P
Jim,

Do you have any contact details for the owner of the car? Would be interesting to have a chat with him about it.

Do they convert an Activa to a V6 or a V6 to an Activa?

Must admit, it's something that's incredibly tempting!

Might give them a ring and have a chat about converting one once I've sold this C6.

Hi david,

tempting indeed :D I know the owner but I have no contact details for him. I'm not aware he is active on any forum...

Better perhaps, I know who did the conversion. They are very good at what they do.

Have a chat with Rob at BL Autos...

He's done a number of them now, including a (non-Activa) V6 estate.

Hi Jim,

I've just emailed BL Autos tonight asking them about the conversion.

Problem is they are around 400 miles from me!

I've asked them what I would need to supply.

Presumably it'd be Engine & Gearbox, Driveshafts, Hubs, and any other V6 specific bits from a car such as a manual 406 Coupe.

Anyone selling a tidy Series 1 Activa? Preferably one with a knackered or no engine, ideally in blue.

From what I've read before David, they require a donor of each car. Not only do they fit the V6, they upgrade the Activa to full Exclusive trim. IIRC, the cost is about £6k!

I believe all the conversions are manuals; if I was to have one, I'd go for an auto, utilising the box from the V6 (although it might need a CitroJim 'makeover' first :) ). What do you think? The V6 autos sound fantastic, so why fit a manual?

Wow.... £6k to convert it?

They're 400 miles each way from me too so that'd make a very expensive conversion.

Hmm.... Maybe I'll end up doing it myself then.

I agree with Jim V6, Estate, Activa :D

I have wondered if anyohne has ever done a twin engine conversion as it would be scary seeing how fast a twin engined TCT or V6 would go round a track :)

Dammit! You're giving me bad ideas as well!!!

I'd like a Xantia V6, I wish the Activa was faster, I'd like to like the Activa more, so putting in a V6 engine would kill 2 birds with one stone. Hmmmm, so I need a Xantia V6 and a 406 V6 donor...

Activa V6

Unread post by hattershaun »

Hi Folks,

It's me that owns the Activa V6 that was at Stratford last weekend.
It's the third of the four that B.L Autos have converted.
I'm afraid that I don't get too much time to look at FCF.
Anyway, it's very pleasing to see the positive response to my car's appearance at it's first Citroen Car Club rally, even though it's now two years since it was converted.
I now realise that I didn't even offer those interested folks a drive in my car; mind you nobody asked. Anyhow, I'm quite happy to do that at sometime in the future.

My car started life as a low mileage one owner Nov 1999 Activa, it had the engine swap & a few spec upgrades at the same time, like leather seats, headlight washers, one-touch windows all round. This is considered to be the 'easiest' way to convert, rather than taking a V6 and adding the Activa suspension. I'd been looking for 2 years for a suitable car & even this one is not in one of the colours that I would have chosen (it's Emerald Green).

Having previously owned several standard 2.0TCT Activa and 3.0 V6 Xantia I can honestly say that the V6 Activa combines the best of both worlds. My everyday car has an auto gearbox, so I use that for sitting in traffic jams & commuting etc. So, the Activa V6's manual gearbox enhances it's driving pleasure for me; it certainly improves performance, driver involvement & control.
Driving the V6 Activa makes you realise that the 2.0TCT really is in a different league.

I'll try to post some pictures, which I've not done before, and maybe I should write something for the Citroenian.

Anyone who is considering such a conversion, go for it, you'll love the car!
I'll gladly assist with moral support & guidance to anyone wanting to make one for themselves. But, really, the best thing to do, is go to Robert & Barry at B.L. Autos, then 'point & pay' as I say! All four of their conversions have been slightly different, so their experience is invaluable. They are extremely skilled & real enthusiasts.

All the best,

Shaun

I'm seriously tempted to phone him up and see what he says about a 406 Coupé Activa conversion

Mind you, I have a feeling I know the answer  :(

The correct answer is kerching!

To be fair it looks and sounds like its worth the money they ask if not a smidge more :)

Hi hattershaun

Regarding the second Activa on your fleet list, are you going to do a second "point and pay" conversion?

Activa V6

ACTIVE8 wrote:Hi hattershaun

Hi Active8,

The short answer is yes, the second Activa that I have recently bought will become a V6, after which my first one will be offered for sale. It may sound a bit extravagant, but I really like the colour Dante & I like to have a sunroof for the extra light that is in the cabin. The new Activa has both of these.
If you know anyone fancying the green Activa V6, then let me know........
I've started work on the Dante car as it needed a fair bit of general improvement anyhow; it's had a complete set of 10 Citroen genuine spheres fitted, virtually every sphere on the car was past it's best. I've a rear ram bush to fit, along with front Activa links & bushes, a new wheel bearing and the list goes on. I have a donor car for V6 engine & other V6 specific bits.

All the best,
Shaun
