Well taking speedo error into account on a 10yr old car it could well have been 137

I didnt note the revs as I was too busy watching the speedo. I was going to do a 2nd run and then the exhaust broke in 2 and we had to stop and hold it up with wire.
My 16v is weird, around 2900rpm it takes off amazingly. Never felt a car with that sort of bhp do that, almost like when a turbo car comes on boost. But then at the same time it felt a bit gutless high up.
I have a friend who had a mk2 405 mi16 with the 2 litre like in the ZX and that had a more even power curve, progressive all the way around to a 7100 cut off. My zx cuts at 6900 however. I have the older 1.9 ally 16v in my Visa and thats also progressive so I just find my zx a bit weird. Its nice though as it means it has a lot of mid range punch so youre not spending ages fighting with the permantly stiff clutch (was smooth for about 3 months when i had a new one and cable)
The 2 litre volcane was 123bhp to the 1.9s 130 but possible a couple more lb's torque, not sure. The 16v has larger brakes though and stiffer suspension.

to be perfectly honest i cant remember how fast my 16v was iv been driving it so long in its poorly state
theres an engine and box for sale for one on ebay for 500£
you think this its worth it?

If your engine was blown perhaps but due to the compexity (read stupidly designed) engine with regards to sensors everywhere etc its probably worth sending it to a garage and forking out a couple of hundred. Did you try to find out if it was the cat like someone suggested? A local exhaust centre might be able to advise on that quickly with very little charge. Might just be something simple that needs doing

well, when i did the compresion test i got 10 bar on the outside two and 8 .2 bar on the inside, when i told citroen they didnt see that as a big problem, i did the test again on saturday, and same again,
i put a bit of oil down the cylinder and the compressions didnt rise so i dont reckon theres any piston problems, im going to have the head skimmed and new seats ground in with new valves, the cams look remarkably good condition, maybe they have been replaced already
so on siunday i thought id take the head off if it isnt the headgasket which has gone, at least i can be sure of it, i hope it is.
citroen dont qoute the compression for my engine, but haynes say that anything below 10 is less than healthy, but i want to know if this low pressure would result in the loss of performance io have
btw, there is no oil in water or vise versa and the car does not over heat,
any more ideas?
il have the head off tonight, hopefully it will all be back together by the weekend if i remember where everythinbg goes,

Hmm head gasket going would explain the lack of power, if air was leaking in/out but no oil/water mixing doesnt point to this. Could be some other air leaks?
Have you have the ecu checked for error codes? I cant help but think its one of the approximatly 242781231 stupid sensors the put on that engine. As I said before, my diaphrams open up too early and also it hunts the entire time slightly. You can feel it under slight throttle even when the revs go up high. I have not changed the ignition modules though which I think you should do every 12k or so? These could be my problem but at £35 each or something, they can wait as I have more important things to spend money on

Turbo D. 1.9. Can't complain does every thing I ask and is cheap to run. Just serviced it my self with parts from GSF cost only £20. 143k on the clock still going srong.

I have had a ZX Volcane TD for over 2 years and after driving a 306 Diesel (which we can presume is remotly similar to a ZX diesel) for a bit would have to say that the Turbo wins hands down. It pulls and pulls when given some stick, returns similar MPG to the ordinary one and makes overtaking etc that much easier. I rule out the petrol ones because of the fuel consumption and becuase diesels will just rake up the millage (well well over 200k) without causing any trouble as long as the fluids, belts and radiators are replaced as and when neccessary.

All i can say dont have a petrol one you will be lucky to get 100,000 miles out of the engine. My petrolis knackered after 80000 miles and it had oil changes every 3000 miles

The best ZX will be a 1.9TD Volcane 5 door with some more boost and a Berlingo front brake conversion then.

I have a Turbo_D ZX Aura k reg and it has done 185.000 miles and doesnt use any oil or water, i have replaced the head gasket 30.000 miles ago along with a radiator and heater matrix, how many more miles should i expect to get out of it?

im 18 and drive a zx td. I started off with a k reg one but wrote that of within 5 days of it going on the road - encounter with a tree and ditch[:(].
It was the rear end that was destroyed so the engine/ front subframe, gearbox etc survived. A friend of my dads had a 1.8i petrol for sale with a nakered engine so i converted the 1.8i petrol to a turbo diesel. It is now in showroom condition.
I find the td to be very impressive performance wise, comparing it to other diesels at l reg, like astras and escorts, the zx is light years ahead, both in accelaration and refinement. its good towing aswell. on the subject of which is best for every day comuting, it would have to be the diesels every time, and why not have the most powerful diesel, you dont have to ramp it all the time but if the grunt is there it might come in handy some times.

NO MY ENGINE ISNT KNACKERED AS I SAID LAST YEAR IN THIS POST. I WAS JUST LETTING OFF A BIT OF STEAM BECAUSE AT THE TIME THE CAR WAS PISSING ME OFF. IN FACT THE ENGINE SWEET.
