Very simple to fit. Remove steering column cowlings, airbag, steering wheel, disconnect the four plugs & there is a kind of clamp holding it to the column with a 10mm bolt. You also need to swap the radio controls (& cruise control stalk if fitted) from the old one as they dont come with the new comms unit, they just clip out.

Sorry to break in on this but that's interesting to me.

My C5 has the ESP but it's not functioning. When I checked with the Lexia it said something about steering wheel angle but I didn't notice anything about setting the angle. Whereabouts in the menu is that?

You do it through the ABS ecu (ABS & ESP both use the same ECU) Then go into programing & there is a menu for calibrating the steering wheel angle sensor, Lexia will guide you through it, you need to drive the car a short distance with the wheels & steeing wheel central.
Has the car had the tracking adjusted by any chance ? If the tracking is out it can bring this fault up. does the steering wheel sit central ?

EDIT: I'm pretty sure its in the ABS ecu but i could be talking rubbish & you may find it in the com2000 menu but its either one or the other.

Thanks, I'll try it at the weekend.

The car was accident damaged before I bought it so goodness knows what has been done to it!

Hi - :D

These comm2000 units are pretty expensive to the average owner.
I wonder if anyone ever tried to dismantle it ?

Cheers folks \:D/

They are expensive, i got discount and paid before the VAT increase, so i bet closer to £200 would be about right now.

Its faily simple to fit though, as long as your ok with removing the air bag.

Im not sure how it could be fixed, as its a multiplexed thing im not sure if anything can be done with it.

£200 just to get the indicators working when the lights are turned off is a little pricey though, but it needs doing so i guess its the only way.

The stalks do feel very nice to use now though, nice and soft touch rather than a harsh noise when you operate it.
