I can never quite believe the prices Activas sell for, which is probably why they are so often for breaking, as they are worth more in bits. However i hate seeing this and every effort to keep them going should be made.

The biggest bargain of a car which our household has ever had was an Activa, until about 5 years ago my dad had a Citroen specialist business, one car which i always liked was a red Activa, which he looked after for its owner. It first came in as it was leaning over to one side, so it was here for ages with various things which needed doing on the car. A very low mileage car, 60K miles, Nreg and it was perfect, in the lovely Dantes red colour. After just spending over £700 (with my dad) getting things right with it the owner decided he wanted something more economical and went to his local ford dealer for a mundaneo, they offered him £350.

He didnt accept and offered it to us for the same amount, obviously we bit his arm off and bought it. Long tax and MOT, totally perfect other than a scuffed front bumper. We got the bumper resprayed for £100 and still a cheap car at that.

After a year of very minimal use it developed a leak from the rear ram and at the time we had spotted a nice late Xm VSX which we liked. So the Activa got traded in for that, the dealer gave £1000 for the activa!

Which was a huge mistake as the Xm turned out to be a bit odd and was sold shortly after.

That activa is the one car i wish was still here too, especially as the DVLA say its not currently on the road, is it even in one piece or even around at all!

I would love an activa myself one day, it will have to be one day soon i would think before even more die out. :(

Good luck with your sale, i wouldnt like to put a price on it as i dont know what they go for. Im surprised these are not worth more than they are, but i guess its the upkeep and parts costs which scare people away.

Talking of the used car market, i heard on the radio the other day that used car prices have rocketed since the start of the year. On average the price of a used car has risen by £600! Find that hard to believe but thats what was said

I see Kev has beaten me to the draw! Welcome to the forum.

Are you really sure you must sell the car!!?

The s2 Activa is a very low volume RHD registered model with 234 making it here.

Previously I have heard overall a figure of approx 1000 quoted in relation to all Activae

So if that's the case did they sell more S1 cars?

Although what are the figures like now, since the muppets have been stripping them for their shopping trolleys?

Yep all in there were 1224 Activae of all flavours with the s2's being rarest.

There were:

990 S1 Activas and
234 S2 Activas

Citroen UK imported 434 S1 and S2 V6 Exclusives! :(

I can only go on this info on face value and regularly refer to it
- the original author was a contributor here a year ago called 194bhp.

Thinking about this, can we not get a tally off all the Activae owner or
at least known to still exist within this forum?

there's

x1 KP's s1
x1 Superloopy s1
x1 citrojim Jim's red s1
x1 Xac's Juliet s1
x2 Jenny s1's
x1 Kevmayer Kev s1
x1 Wainy's s1

I have
x6 s1's (for now  ) and
x1 s2

x1 XantiaMan583 Gareth's s2
x1 Quacker's s2
x1 sl4yer James' s2

x1 ACTIVE8 s?
x1 anybloodybody s?

If I've left anyone out sorry, but that's the point of trying to get an idea
of how many are owned by forum members!

Anyone want to add theirs to the list?? 20 out of 1224!???

Hi...

Thanks for all your input chaps....

She's still here with me parked outside my kitchen window, not sold her yet as I have had some minor surgery done and been a bit tied up...

I have the replacement car now so I have insured the Activa on a temporary 14 day insurance that I can increase if neccessary to enable me to still drive and sell...

My dad might be buying a new Citroen very soon and we might offer mine as trade in, might get more for her that way, I dont know...

Andrew, You have a mighty collection of Activae there :D

Cheers...

Hi Gav, I do like Activae!

See what the Citroen dealer has to say but I'd be very surprised to hear
they offer much if anything for the car and it'd be sad to see your Activa
get pumped through the auctions as that'd very likely seal it's grisly fate.
You can't be thinking of the scrappage scheme as the buyer needs to be
registered keeper of the car for over 12 months and that'd see a rare car
going to deliberate destruction with a fresh MOT anyway...

Try offering your car on the forum here - see where that get's you as there's
been some interest and £ figures mentioned about it in this thread already.
I may even be keen enough to want to add it to my collection...

Im surprised at how little they go for too, i only know of one on the island here and its a silver MK1 with body kit and aftermarket alloys, its very well looked though and was up for sale a year or so ago for £2600 ish, it obviously sold because it now lives at the top of my road.

Talbot Express Autotrail Chinook 89
Mitsubishi L200 Trojan 14
Xantia Activa 95, sold (missed)

Service Citroen is awesome, it shows me pictures of all the parts i used to be able to buy............

Hi Chaps...

Well, It appears the Activa is staying in the family fingers crossed :D :D ..

My dad has decided to take it from me and use it for a year or so, I am very glad about this.... :D :D

One small bad point is that is was due and MOT tomorrow and low and behold an ABS sensor has come on... :(

I have managed to isolate it to the drivers side front sensor..I checked the resistance across the ABS ECU connector, I got 1076ohms on all the other 3 sensors, Nothing on that one...I got under the car and pulled the plug and its good condition, I shorted the connector going back to the ABS ECU plug and got a clean circuit....so the fault is with the sensor or the short cable its attached too....

Any one changed one of these on here, I have taken it off earlier and cleaned it up but its still not working...fitting is easy its the wiring that looks tricky...???

When I have the new one on will the ABS light go out or do I need a reset, I did read that leaving the battery disconnected for 15-30mins does this...anyone know...?

Sorry for all the ???

Cheers....

Gav.....

Hi Gav, sorry to hear about the ABS sensor but at least being a front it's easy enough to swap. The NS sensor wiring is a bit hard to get to as the plug/socket is well tucked up in the subframe and the lead from the sensor itself takes a pretty tortuous path to the connector. It's vital the routing is strictly adhered to as it runs close to the driveshaft and could get entangled in it.

The ABS light will go off after the sensor is replaced but not until you have exceeded a certain speed (quite a low one but it escapes me at the moment). However, faults may remain in the ABS ECU and a Lexia session one day is advised to erase any and to ensure all is good.

All the best with the forthcoming MOT and delighted the car is reamining in the family :D

The big hassle is the gearbox/clutch arrangement as I'd prefer a
manual box.
I thought TCT and V6 shared the same gearbox and clutch?

Gav, I hesitate to post a link myself because my computer skills are minimal. But if you put mjm as author and series 2 abs problems in the search engine, Citroen part, not Active, there's chapter and verse from the knowledgable ones with pictures of connector location etc. Mine was ns front. I ran the new cable alongside the old to get its run correct. No computor re-set is required, it does it automatically at about 20mph. :D

Hi chaps...

Well....Ordered a sensor from a chap on ebay @ 3.45pm Thursday, Brand new, OEM part, Delivered @ 9.00am Friday with a postal strike...all for £20 delivered...Part was pristine and looked bang on original...

Jacked her up. Wheel off, fitted and back together in less than an hour, I started her up, rolled down the road and the light went off...What a great feeling after being quoted over £70 for the part alone from the local stealer...

If anyone wants one for the front then I can only recomend the ebay seller, He has more as another was listed right after I paid...£15+P&P..cant beat it...

Fingers crossed for the MOT now....Then shes of to her new home with my dad, I still get to drive her whenever I like too...best poss outcome..

I took a photo of the car just now, Anyone now how to get it one here...

Cheers...
