TBH, it's not what I would describe as a prime example. It is a 175 000 miler ex minicab, with scratched and dented bodywork (including the roof) and slightly distressed interior. On the plus point it drove well with good spheres, and is tested till November, and aside from perhaps rear discs and pads should MOT again easily. If I had more tools and somewhere to work I would do it over the weeked, but the street is currently my workshop, and in anycase I have just been offered an almost free 306 which I used to own and have done a lot of work on, so feel decamping to that would be a better plan.
The annoying thing was that I currently have the engine out of my BX, and only needed the Xantia to last another month or so in order to finish sorting it :-/
Injector pump issue?

It would actually, but I already have an engine lined up for the BX, which is at my parents a couple of hundred miles away. I might pass the Xantia to a friend who needs an XUD engine; if anyone wants any Xantia bits give me a shout...jgra1 wrote:will the xantia engine go in the bx ?

Jim: Good thinking, but alas a little exploration has shown that the bush is still intact, and the problem is an internal one. It's a shame, but I think it is probably the end of the road for this particular Xantia, the fact that I have almost certainly killed the syncro on 1st from driving it home through rush hour with no clutch doesn't help either. If it had been a better example I would have kept it and changed the clutch, but as it is rather rough I think it will be a case of slow boat to China. At least I have a friend who might take the engine, and I will keep the Bosch IP and injectors for my BX.
John: Unfortunately it is a Mark 1.
