So the thing is, it would limit their market, and therefore sales if it fitted less vehicles, so is it a fact that this kit would not fit an Xantia, and more specifically the Activa?Koukku wrote:Hehe... I think the turbo kit is designed for a 406, and still they had to relocate the battery to make room for the turbo itself. Imagine all the hydraulics you'd have to move out of the way in an Activa...CitroJim wrote: Speaking of the V6, I've just looked at the turbo conversion available for ithow on earth do they find space for it, an intercooler and all the piping. Space and access is already at a premium as well as under-bonnet heat issues

Gareth do you use a Dash mounted boost controller or is it just a bleed valve in the engine bay??
Is it a Pressure Release Valve or Pressure Bleed Valve??
Do you run a boost guage as well??
Hsa anyone de-catted their Activa or fitted a swap out type section where the cat goes to see how much this helps??
What kind of oil are people using? Is half decent Castrol GTX any good if you stick to say changing it every 5k??

Also what tyres do people run?
I've had good experience in the past with soem Michelin Primacy's on my xantias(exclusive alloys) but on perfomance based cars used Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3 but they wore out very very quickly.....
Has anyone tried any tires that are run flats at all for extra sidewall stiffness for even better cornering as im guessing when pushed the activa's cause a lot of sidewall flex??

Not as much as a "regular" car from the pitcures I've seen. Makes sense since everything is kept in it's proper relationship to the road. Have a look at the road test vs. a Pug 306 S16 or the Audi A4 (the links are in the Activa area somewhere) and you'll see what I mean. The steel sprung cars almost roll the tyres off the rims!KP wrote:Has anyone tried any tires that are run flats at all for extra sidewall stiffness for even better cornering as im guessing when pushed the activa's cause a lot of sidewall flex??

I use a manual boost controller which is a ball+spring type, mounted in place of the original electronic boost solonoid.KP wrote:Gareth do you use a Dash mounted boost controller or is it just a bleed valve in the engine bay??

Boost was set to around 12 psi but the ECU is very sensitive to slight spikes in boost. When air pressure outside is high and air temp low, boost can be a fraction too high enough to signal to the ECU to throw it into a fault code situation and run of default.
A very slight tweak down and its been fine, but beware of this if boost is set up in low pressure situations as boost will be higher when the atmospheric pressure is really high. I think it was 1039 mb !
I dont run a boost gauge except for diagnostics.
I use Silkolene 10w 40 oil from Oilman, really good quality stuff but any decent 10w 40 semi will do.
As for tyres, they need a degree of flex in the sidewalls to retain comfort but the high pressures on the Activa compensate for this. I wouldnt mess about with runflats or lower profiles, Citroen knew what they were doing and made a fantastic handling car out the box.
GSD3 is my top choice, i have them on the Maestro but dont recall them being available in 205-60 for the Activa.
I've got Falken on the front of mine, i wouldnt get any lower priced ones than these, they were only £40 a shot anyway. Its crucial to have a good quality tyre because of the cornering speeds the Activa is capable of, cheap tyres have a habit of gripping ok in the dry but dangerous in damp and wet conditions and they have very little progression or warning either.

Curious which model of Falken - the 912s? They seem to make their range with good load indexes - appreciably higher than the recommended (here, at least) Michelin XM1. In itself, this could add some sidewall stiffness.
I've got C-Drives on the estate's trailing pair, and they have been light years ahead of the old Olympics or whatever they were. Looking forward to trying them on the front.
Cheers, Adam.

It sits near the OSF Sphere. The hoses are taken off from the valve and fitted onto the new one. The multi-plug stays on as the ECU tries to intialise it when the ignition is switched on and will throw a code when it doesnt see it (it thinks its open circuit)KP wrote:Where does the electronic boost control module sit??
Do you just remove the inlet and outlet boost pressure hoses and put them on the manual boost controller, or disconnect its electrical plug as well?

Made it more aggressive coming on boost, much more torque and a bit more bhp. Its only 3psi more than standard but because the boost comes in sooner and isnt regulated it feels overall more powerful and punchy. The turbo is still virtually inaudible except down narrow lanes.SLYTZD wrote:How much difference has upping the boost made? And can you hear the turbo now?
