No that's not the answer . I'm looking for minimum maintenance and cheap running. My race car and trailer will tow quite happily at 80 mph plus with the 1.7 TD BX so I don't need anything bigger in engine or car size. I tried an admittedly tired XM for a while and was forever fixing the electrics, and my wife won't consider a CX due to its Ghostbusters image . I think I'm leanin towards a ZX TD as it has straightforward suspension and the Turbo diesel for long life and economy. Any pitfalls to look for in a ZX TD ?

i had a zx volcane td for about 4 years now my brother owns it and has been a great car no problems at all apart from normal wear and tear items, tyres exhaust ect, watch out for the rear subframe mounts as these can come away not a big thing to fix though, only other problem i had was the rear boot lock kept seizing up, great car to drive with excellent handling

To Jeremy:
I wouldn't advise on lightening the flywheel on a diesel - unless your going to race it! You will amplify the engine vibrations quite considerably if you lighten the mass and probably shake around the insides of the gearbox a lot more.
