C5 Particulate Filter -- Replacement?

I removed and cleaned my filter on Saturday, the bottom two flanged nuts had to be cut off ,I used a Dremel with cutting discs to split them , and they eventually gave way. The front section is the catalyst and holds the studs, with the filter at the rear held on with four flanged nuts. Once removed I used an alkaline solvent and hot water to soak the filter and after an hour or so I drained it and switched to my pressure washer, you will not believe how long it takes to get the water to run clear, when you think you are finished turn the filter and flush it the other way, what comes out is ridiculous. When I was happy that the filter was clean I left it to dry for an hour or so then fitted it to the catalyst with new stainless nuts and washers and coppergreased studs, I then started the engine and let it run up to temp .When there was no more steam coming from the filter outlet I reconnected the rest of the exhaust and took the car for a run. First impressions are that the car felt more responsive, more willing to rev.
It was an allday job , but I was grovelling about on the driveway and had to use ramps instead of my axle stands, it was certainly better than paying £280 to my local national tyres to have it done. Hope you get it sorted .

Thus provided that you never take on less than ten lires of fuel at a time you should get maximum economy of EOLYS.

And that's another reason I never want an engine that has FAP.

I quite often top-up with 5 litres from the spare fuel can. And then, so that I can calculate accurate fuel consumption figures, I brim to the top at the fuel station after filling up from some 25l containers.

I assume that you did collect all that nasty toxic waste water and take it to your local disposal centre it being illegal to put it in normal water drains? Ah! I thought not.

You'd be surprised what you, as a private individual - not a company, can put down the drain.

Some years ago my wife had some dirty white spirit that had used for cleaning paint brushes to dispose of. She rang up, I think, the waste disposal department of our council and they told her to put it down the drain as it could cope with this small amount.

Wonder what the water company would have said, the drains belonging to them and not the council :~)
