So you guys are complaining ?

For an old BX (no sport/GTI) here in DK the legal insurance ONLY (second party damage covering only) is approx £400 sheapest rate.
Add to this the same amount in road tax yearly rate.

£800 yearly rate just having the old BX parked licensed and insured in the driveway. Other typical expenses :
MOT fee £40.
License plates fee £110.
In DK the car is not "born" with an identity by a set of license plates. If the car fails MOT and is not repaired - license plates must be turned in - but you wont get the fee back. A later new MOT means a set of completely new license plates (with new number) purchased by the (new !) fee.

Total 1.st year for an "Ebay" bargain - or give away - in DK would then be £950. And then we aint put any oil, filters, tyres or petrol on the car yet ...

In DK the car is not "born" with an identity by a set of license plates.

All the same as Denmark in Belgium when I used to live there.
A colleague's dad died, and 3 days later there was a letter asking to turn the plates in, no refund, not even partial.
At one stage it became too expensive to keep my 7-year-old Renault 4 van running legally, so I kept on driving it without any MOT, taxes, or insurances.
Never got caught.
If I had, I would have had to run away to Australia, like Ronald Biggs did.
