The june 1995 onwards 405s had the same sunroof set up as the 306 & there are plenty of them in the scrapyard.

A / C was standard on nearly all the late 405s, To have a electric sunroof as well you either had to ditch the A / C or splash out another £700 to have both

I hate sunroofs myself, I would rather have the A / C

Interesting study I saw a little while ago about the crossover of fuel consumption between having A/C on, and having windows/sunroof open.

Aparently, the cut-over is about 45mph. Under that, windows open is better, above that, the additional drag is more than the A/C load. Being as I spend very little of my time in low-speed-limit areas, A/C is always better for me.

Even better would be neither, but I suppose you cannot have everything, and at least you do not have to actually use the sunroof.

At worst, it only needs a few metres of gaffer tape around the outside!

A/C, apart from the power consumption, does mean that you cannot get to things that you may need to dismantle, and that if you opt not to use it, things will eventually go wrong that you cannot fix.

I'm a sunroof man myself. Find interiors too dark without a nice glass panel above your head and I prefer fresh air to dried out air-con stuff.

That said, when I was in Malta, I was VERY glad of the air con in the hire car! Just seems a bit unecessary in the UK - like snow chains.

Unfortunately, as a sufferer of really severe hay-fever, A pollen filter and A/C is absolutely essential for me, for about a month around june-july time. Without it, I can almost not drive.

A/C can be a pain at times, and there are a couple of design faults in the 405 system, but when you're stuck in a traffic jam, and it's 35 degrees, with 80% relative humidity, A/C is REEEEEEEALY nice!

I'm not a big fan of aircon, but the BX's ventilation is so poor that a sunroof is essential!!!

Its the only way to get some decent airflow through the car, but to stop my head cooking I have put a double layer of reflective foil on the inside of it.

People think its odd in that when its really sunny I drive the Vitesse hood up, but as anyone with a ragtop knows, they are at their best top down when the sun has gone down!!!!!!!

I would never buy a car again without a/c.But having a VSX,i also have a sunroof.All my cars have had sunroofs.I like them,as i use it quite a bit.Driving to work on a sunny bright morning at 5-7am,summer & autum,open the sunroof up to get a nice cool breeze & see the clear blue sky.Who needs a rag top?

ha! find me a 10 year old Peugeot with working or reliable air con!

I prefer a sunroof. Lets the light in and fresh air in.

There's only about 4/5 days a year when I wish my Air con worked!

I have a 12 year old 405 with working reliable aircon, and a 21 year old citroen with working reliable aircon. Keeping the systems full of gas and in regular use means it's as reliable as a domestic refrigerator (my home fridge-freezer being 34 years old and works just fine!)

My 405 was nearly 10 years old when I got rid of it, A / C worked ok, You have to look after an A / C system for it to last.
