VistaGTi16v > 65 - isn't that the height? that shouldn't make a huge differance, rolling radius 'n all that.
I think the problem might have been sorted. I rang the guy last night & he had me bring it round there & then.
We put it up on his lift & checked all the bushes & the steering rack. All fine although there is a small amount of movement in the rack. I ran round & checked the pressures in the wheels, all but one were ok, the rear nearside only having 10psi in it, to my horror as it didn't look low at all. This could explain the handling issue. (we also checked the rear beam bushes & bearings)
Now the locking up. This was obvious once in the air. The oil leak from the head, is so bad that it has covered the inner edge of the wheel with oil - including the caliper & disk. Hence the bad pedal, I must have been pushing it harder than usual, making the dry nearside wheel to lock.
I oly jacked it up at home & checked the wheel bearings when it first started. I never took the wheel off, if I had it would have been obvious.

Well the rolling diamater will be about 3% bigger with the 65 profile over the 60. This makes the car 3% higher geared (and so accelerate slower), speedo under read by the same amount etc. Then you have to take into account what size were the original wheels and tyres on your car then you could work out speedo error.
Blimey nice leak! Mine used to chuck petrol out from the filler header all over the rear wheel but luckily never enough to lose traction unlike my friends mum in a metro years back

Sounds suspiciously like the old ovalised hole in the hub scenario. The hole where the balljoint bolts into. My zx did the same for a while after I had bought it. Only thing to do to check is to take out the balljont and inspect the hole. Easier if you have a good one to compare it to. I tried testing it jacked up, but you cant get enough load on it to move it.
