Not to mention that you'd soon use up the £650 saving at the car wash!!
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!

Re: Electric Cars:what's available?
Thanks Chris, always good to keep up to date with the market, and many folk will not baulk at the monthly outgoings on a new car. The better value for me will be in the 3-4 year old market for any vehicle, by which time all the new car niggles will have been sorted and should you wish the reassurance of continuing warranties, still plenty of time left on them, and the major depreciation paid by the first owner.
The Tesla Model Y was the worlds best selling car in 2023. I don't think I would suit Tesla ownership even if I was paddling around in that market. I like the relationship I have with Nissan with my Leaf over the last 4¾ years. Never had any contact with them whatsoever, never been near the dealer for a service, never had to do an "update", never had to buy any add ons.

Re: Electric Cars:what's available?
Thats the bit I like too Neil.. no maintenance no contact because it just works.. I swap summer to winter tyres and do a brake maintenance, check and treat any rust and that's it.

Re: Electric Cars:what's available?
You can take it as read, I like my Nissan Leaf. It's coming up 5 years since buying it, documented from the very start, for anyone to read on the thread Bargain Basement Electric. viewtopic.php?t=63910
Used Nissan Leafs from the Classic shape, which I have grown to like in its "odd-looking" distinctiveness and very fit-for-purpose designed in slipperyness, to the more "normal-looking" second generation are now even more in the bargain basement category than when I bought mine. Plenty to choose from on the usual car-buying sites and lots of good value, well-engineered, lightly used cars at "shot-to-nothing" prices for anyone wanting to give EV motoring it a try.
This turns out to be quite an enthusiastic video from an unusual source a straight-talking if over-loud and fast talking, Australian somewhat surprised at his purchase of a Classic shaped Leaf as a "nugget".
Link here in the spoiler if you want to give the video an airing. Half-volume recommended for a chance to watch the whole 9 minutes or so.

Re: Electric Cars:what's available?
For August he did the Shoreham Auction of cars from Zenith. Far too long for a watch (over an hour), maybe a small dip in too see how much the trade is paying for a Vauxhall Corsa e. You can find the vid on Jonathan Porterfield's youtube channel here should you wish to dig it out. https://www.youtube.com/@JonathanPorterfieldNewcastleFalcon wrote: 13 Aug 2024, 11:22 The auctions he (Jonatham Porterfield) plans to cover are trade sales at Shoreham Vehicle Auctions or Aston Barclay each month picking out the EV's going through the sale.

Re: Electric Cars:what's available?
A minor and probably inconsequential change of direction for Volvo..........
Volvo gives up plan to sell only EVs by 2030
Car company Volvo has abandoned its target to produce only fully electric cars by 2030, saying it now expects to be selling some hybrid vehicles by that date.
The carmaker blamed changing market conditions for its decision to give up a target it had announced only three years ago.
It comes as the industry faces a slowdown in demand in some major markets for electric vehicles (EVs) and uncertainty due to the imposition of trade tariffs on EVs made in China.

First time I have watched that through Gibbo although you have posted it before. Not what I was expecting but nicely done. Had to look up the backdrop of the Tower. You probably are familiar with it Broadway Tower In Worcestershire

Re: Electric Cars:what's available?
Despite my extensive bike riding around the locality in my teens and business travel since I've never actually been to Broadway Worcs. (Been to the California one)
I might give it a go, I see they have events on this month, if the weather's fine, it's not too far away.
