Jim that would be great, I have one in my donor but I know that one was not working last time I started the car but I do not know why either. :)

As long as the potentiometer is ok you can swap it out of the assembly with the faulty or suspect pump motor. Just give it some multimeter testing first to make sure it too doesn't go open circuit when wobbling the float sideways...

You can try but better will be to try to move the wiper onto a bit of unused track. A trick we use to do with the old 'flapper' AFMs on 205GTis....

FYI, S1 cars and S2 cars have different pumps and sender/float/filter units.

Yep I noticed that :( My two spare units are from when I had a S2 and I noticed the S1 is different. (And much more expensive to buy BTW, even after market)

Cost....yep, noticed that as well :)

I have taken mine out, used contact cleaner and a fibreglass "scrubber" on the slider, re-wired the plug (it had been messed with) cleaned the filter and refitted.

It now shows 3/4 full, I have started and turned off the car a few times, driven up and down the hill, braked hard to slosh the fuel about.....and all seems to be working OK now.

I will see how it is tomorrow as I am going to the meeting at the Coventry Motoring Museum

Sounding promising Alasdair :D

I can only think that all my spares are all S2 ones.... The memory is playing tricks on me...

Not well enough for Coventry today unfortunately. Yesterday turned out a very long although good and positive day.. Today I'm in need of a slow conditioning charge ;)
