Pop the aux belt off to confirm Alasdair.

I can take a listen next Saturday...

And if the belt needs doing we can work something out ;)

By left side I assume you really mean the right side, eg belt side ? Can you record the sound with your phone ?

Does it stop if you turn the aircon on or off ?

Yes...belt side.

Tried....sound is masked on phone by the normal engine sounds....it is defo a howl and not a "scream"/running squeek, and higher up ....a little like induction howl but obviously not as it changes intensity/a higher note and goes at 2k.

No, but I'm good at doing them. Try Mike (xantia_v6) as he got a kit very recently...

I love this car......No...ZERO..ZipALL..BuggerAll mystery noise this morning......it has even been checked by a certain expert who just said, "what noise, that sounds sweet Alasdair" ?

The only thing I can think is that with it drained down for a few days awaiting a new header tank that it was maybe something to do with that ....bloody PSA Engines ?

You don't want experts looking at your car Alasdair ;)

You know the definition of an expert? An x is an unknown quantity and a spurt is a drip under pressure...

However, I must say it does sound very sweet indeed :)

Do enjoy Alasdair.. Wish now I was switched-on enough a while back to have altered my normal weekend plans so I could have joined you at Shepton...

We'll try to do it right next year...

I'm game on for the Haynes Breakfast club meet in a couple of weeks, already planned into my schedule...
