Although I initially gave 'Susan' the benefit of the doubt there was always something not quite right... So what's the story (or would you rather not - you can always PM me, as a long term and active member of the BXC it'd be good to know - fore-warned is fore-armed, as they say)...
Anyway, back O/T, where's this convoluted XM search leading you? Any strong candidates? I only got mine a very short time ago and I can say, they are an experience worth having.

Hummm ,rather not say, but they did a good scam, and led a lot of people on, 11 pages of it, ...
The so called mate is a member of the BX club, and has had several well known club Bx's i believe, and has been a member for some time,
As for the XM search, well i'm just wiating for the sale of the wifes Megane, then it will be all systems go on th esearch front
Come to the conclusion that i will rule out a 3ltr, although i know a lot of you say these are the best
But not bothered if it's auto or not, couple on Ebay at mo i'm watching ,so can't wait
I believe it is quite an experiance to own one , and with heated garage waiting eagerly for one to turn up , shouldn't be to long now

Hi XMXXMX wrote:Hi Kev,
I hope your keeping okay and BTW are you still on the look out for an XM or have you got fixed up with one ?
On a couple of occasions I've nearly sorted myself out with one but then reality hits back as I would be pushing it on the finance front having two cars on the road, need to look into storage options really and timeshare them on insurance until it gets to a sensible price, one of the down sides of being a teenager

Thats a very strange going on with your BX pictures, i dont quite understand why anyone would do it, how can people be bothered for one thing!
Anyway, at least you know who it was then.
Citroenesque: Is the gearchange graunchy or is it the clutch pedal? The clutch cable can need lubricating i find as it dries out and can give the clutch pedal an un-smooth feel. There is a contraption which the cable passes through on rhd cars, this seems to give the problems with a jerky pedal.
If its the gearchange then look at linkages, oil change might benefit it, although on a manual i wouldnt expect it to have too much influence. Saying that when we got an Xm manual which had been stood for over 3 years its gearbox was very very stiff, sometimes woulndt go into gear. A gearbox oil change and some Forte diff and gear soon had it sorted out and it was a joy to use after that. And after sorting the jerky clutch pedal too.
Kev, What model of Xm would you fancy? Diesel i assume? Xms do seem a bit pricey to insure, though probably not a huge amount more than your Xantia, depending on engine.

Yes amkes you wonder why people would put so much time and effort into starting a topic like that with pictures from someone else, and make up a complete and utter story, about how it was MOT'D in April, and that it was being driven around, i phoned my boss today and he catagoricly states that it is still in the barn and not been moved since we started it back in Feb last yr
Really must get it going agian and put it into proper retirement, back her in Eastbourne,
They had a lot of interest in the topic though

Hard to be precise, but my money's on the 'box. As soon as there's some warmth in it it's fine, smooth even. But as a matter of course clutch cable lubrication is on the list of to-do's (which is growing daily!).
I understood adding anything other than the approved oil to a gearbox was not a good idea - what is this Forté diff and gear of which you speak? I have recently bought some of their Stop Leak (as part of my car's emergency kit)...

It does seem a bit that way !
Why say you have it MOT'd, and driving it around when it's comfirmed today that it is still in the barn awiating removal by me!
There are some sad one's out there

Ive used it a few times on various cars and find it works well.
Best idea would be to do a gearbox oil change and add in a tube of this with the new oil.
I always put in the automatic transmission treatment into the Xm auto too. Just to be on the safe side.

This stuff has been strongly recommended to me: http://www.simplan.co.uk/index.html
My mate uses it in his four million horse power Skyline, his BX TZD Turbos and swears by it. Add it to gearbox oil change, engine oil change and a very small dose to the fuel, and it will apparently make a difference. I particularly appreciate the hole in sump/blown head gasket emergency drive on for a bit until safe to stop scenario (not that I'd want to try it!).
