Look who came to dinner. I've been adopted, don't know who it belongs to but it sits there and stares at me until I give it a bit of food.

Pop this one in today as I found it in archive. My old car in a lay-by in Brecon (unusually not waiting for recovery).

My parents ended up with 4 cats moving in by feeding ones from neighbours who were then not happy at losing pets.Gibbo2286 wrote: 15 Aug 2025, 10:31 Look who came to dinner. I've been adopted, don't know who it belongs to but it sits there and stares at me until I give it a bit of food.

I find throwing water from a pan in the direction of unwanted cats in our garden discourages them but never managed to wet one. We have a bird bath that has been used by lots of birds several times a day during all this dry weather so cats are not welcome. Also minimises the amount of cat poo to clear up and the odd dead mouse. We gave up feeding birds years ago due to large rats that enjoyed seed.

Crap photo's unfortunately.
Shopping in a little town a bit off my usual track there was an unexpected clippity-clopping approaching. Hard to see for reflections on the phone screen and parked cars so couldn't frame them at all.

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
Been a reasonably productive weekend. Spent yesterday fitting the front facelifted clusters on the 3L. Also, as I suspected, the high-tone transducer on the horn had failed. Naturally that meant pillaging my 2L for parts. It was a long day yesterday, but worth it. I've never had this much interaction with anyone on my road before either. I spoke with neighbours from 5 different houses (most of them thinking I'm insane) and a passing kid said he liked my engine. I thought that only happened in movies LOL. Spent this morning fitting the facelifted taillights, a much easier job. Now I just need to fit the used horn I picked up for the 2L when it gets here.

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
Earlier posts have mentioned littering and fly tipping. It does happen here but fortunately not too bad usually, although there are teams of volunteer litter pickers roaming the area.
I usually find it worse in the vicinity of Greggs, Costa, McD, Starbucks, Valeo and Tim Hortons.
There are lots or parks and wooded areas around here with paths through them and it is surprising the number of shopping trolleys abandoned along the paths, sometimes miles from the shops.
This rather surprised me in the park this afternoon, only ¼ mile from home.
I thought it was someone working in the woods as they are trimming bushes here and there, then perhaps a dead electric scooter, but it's a vacuum cleaner, or was once.
Stupid thing is, if they leave stuff like this on the verge outside their house, tatters (scrapmen) that drive around very frequently will take it away for them, often within a couple of hours. Far more effort to drag it into the park.

Littering and fly-tipping is a massive problem round here Steve and just like you, worse in the vicinity of the usual fast-food joints.
So, outside of Valeo, do you find heaps of discarded headlights, alternators and starter motors?myglaren wrote: 26 Aug 2025, 21:30 I usually find it worse in the vicinity of Greggs, Costa, McD, Starbucks, Valeo and Tim Hortons.

The Valeo warehouse here is food, apparently. Looks like the people who work there don't have any rubbish bins and chuck all their bottles, cans and packaging in the bushes.

Out with my favourite photographic subject yesterday
I took a load of photos during our Stickman adventure in the morning and in the afternoon I developed the film and got some negative scanning of selected images completed
In my world, I can process analogue film almost as fast as I can digital

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
Something captured for posterity here...
Out walking last Sunday along a badly overgrown and almost unused footpath, I spotted this old stile...
It will soon be gone forever; buried under a large housing estate
This path passes by a now derelict but largely intact farm; compulsorily purchased a couple of years ago to make way for a development that's raised incredible levels of local ire. Really sad to see some very prime arable agricultural land now abandoned, left to rot and grow nothing but a fine crop of thistles and other weeds.
That said, mostly, it's a delightful walk and a bit of a well-kept secret. I plan to make the most of it whilst I can and before the bulldozers move in...

I forgot to post this yesterday, I didn't take many pics at all because I was too enthralled to remember:
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!
